Flirting With Disaster

What is the biggest Oiler Deficiency?

Hairball 12-05-2003 09:19 AM

Team defensive awareness. Too many turnovers in our own end.

gretzky2kurri 12-05-2003 09:30 AM

(1) PK

(2) This obsurd belief that we can be a "run and gun" team without the Gretzkys, Messiers, Kurris and Coffeys etc in the line up.

(3) Coaching......but I guess this could be #1 because presently #1 and #2 are both a "BY-PRODUCT" and are "INDICATIVE" of this here #3.

...couldn't help myself.......

1. special teams

2. The Oilers not making the first pass out of their zone well. Their d-man are not the best passer in the NHL.

3. lack of NHL help up the middle

the blue line. they cant gain the zone crossing the opponents blue line and they cant get the puck out of their own zone when they need to. This relates to 5-5, pk,pp. This has got to be coaching.

I agree that coaching has alot to do with it. In the 3rd period against San Jose I was in my seat thinking that we could win this game. If we had a good coach we would win the game. The effort was there. The shots were there. Just draw them a play Mac-T!! :( never happened.

The game against Minnisota. 3rd period 5 on 3. 1 shot in 1:42 of pp time. They looked confused... Is that possible?

Defensive lapses. Who ever said that the Oilers have 2 #4 D's and the rest are 6/7's got me thinking. They aren't far off on that analysis. Maybe Brewer is a #3 but the rest...

You can thank Steve Staois and the fans for that one... the fans kept screaming shoot, and Steve kept listening to them...

the fans in EDM must be some of the dumbest in the league. Every game I've been to this year (only 2 or 3, unfortunately) the low point is listening to these moron fans yelling "Shoot!!!" at the most inopportune times imaginable.

too many chiefs and not enough indians on the bench and when those indians are on the ice they become headless chickens

1. NHL 1st line Centre
2. Janne Ninnima
