FYI: Here's The Kings Payroll Right Now

Player Name -------------- Compensation
Allison, Jason ---------- $8,000,000.00
Armstrong, Derek ---------- $500,000.00
Aulin, Jared -------------- $850,000.00
Avery, Sean --------------- $440,000.00
Belanger, Eric ------------ $743,800.00
Brennan, Kip -------------- $440,000.00
Brown, Dustin ----------- $1,240,000.00
Cammalleri, Mike -------- $1,075,000.00
Cechmanek, Roman -------- $3,000,000.00
Chartrand, Brad ----------- $420,000.00
Corvo, Joseph ------------- $475,000.00
Deadmarsh, Adam --------- $3,000,000.00
Frolov, Alexander ------- $1,075,000.00
Holland, Jason ------------ $475,000.00
Huet, Cristobal ----------- $425,000.00
Klatt, Trent ------------ $1,100,000.00
Kuznetsov, Maxim ---------- $575,000.00
Laperriere, Ian ----------- $900,000.00
Miller, Aaron ----------- $3,500,000.00
Modry, Jaroslav ----------- $950,000.00
Norstrom, Mattias ------- $4,500,000.00
Norton, Brad -------------- $475,000.00
Palffy, Zigmund --------- $7,000,000.00
Pirnes, Esa --------------- $475,000.00
Robitaille, Luc --------- $1,150,000.00
Sim, Jonathan ------------- $450,000.00
Smithson, Jerred ---------- $440,000.00
Straka, Martin ---------- $3,100,000.00
Stumpel, Jozef ---------- $2,850,000.00
Tripp, John --------------- $450,000.00
Visnovsky, Lubomir -------- $850,000.00

TOTAL ------------------ $50,923,800.00

Now I put $3.1 mil for Straka, cuz it's prorated and it also doesn't take into account Allison's insurance policy. This is just the amount the Kings owe the boys at the "Major League" level.

P.S. - not sure about Aulin... wouldn't surprise me if they insured him, not sure don't wanna speculate. Maybe we can get Paris Hilton to pay his salary this season... :D

Explain to me how Brown makes more than Cammy or Frolov.

ReggieMoto 12-06-2003 06:46 AM

Better negotiating skills?

Rookie contracts have a cap (not counting bonus or incentives Cammy got a huge signing bonus). This cap increases by a small amount almost every year. So the reason why Brown gets more money then Frolov is because the Cap was that much higher in 2004. But in reality Frolov should have hit some of his incentives and will in the end be making more money....

jfont 12-06-2003 08:34 AM

lets say Allison gets back at the all-star break, that would mean the kings pay about half of the $8M...which makes the total payroll to about $47M...thats alot! would they still have room to add for that defenseman that they want?

Ummm.....did the KINGS want to add defenseman or did WE want the Kings to add a defenseman? LoL. If the former, I never heard about it, unless you mean that crap that Lie-weekly spewed over the summer.

I remember an LA Times article with Dave Taylor saying he wanted to add a defenseman with bite. It was during the summer though.

Money well spent:

Avery, Sean --------------- $440,000.00
Belanger, Eric ------------ $743,800.00
Frolov, Alexander ------- $1,075,000.00
Sim, Jonathan ------------- $450,000.00
Visnovsky, Lubomir -------- $850,000.00

jon sim, in particular, is a bargain for what he brings to this team. hard work, solid play, chips in points from the third and fourth lines. he's the kind of guy we needed last year when we had johnson and eloranta in our bottom six.

punchy1 12-06-2003 10:50 AM

Brilliant Agent! Dead on. Sim IS the difference on that part of our game and he actually plays D as well. (I mean as a forward) Money well spent indeed. I also think that Mike Cammeleri's money was well spent too.

Even though he is hurt right now, I would add:

Armstrong, Derek ---------- $500,000.00

He does what ever the Kings ask, he can play as a top six forward when needed. 6 Goals in 16 games.

I was commenting on his post and just wanted to add in that Cammo fits right there as well. Is it out of place there?

nope...it means, of course cammy is worth it...

punchy1 12-07-2003 08:12 AM

Oh, then am I missing something or are you having a poke at me? I mean he makes the same as Frolov but you didn't single out agent by clipping Frolovs name and saying *duh!* about it. The thing is that there are people who have been saying Cammo doesn't belong or wouldn't make it due to his size, that is why I singled him out for praise and added him in, sorry mate, I still don't understand the meaning of what you wrote. No worries, just curious.

ReggieMoto 12-07-2003 08:42 AM

It was a friendly expression, I'm sure

It's a modern American cultural idiom, occasionally prefaced with the word, "Well", as in: "Well, duh." Sometimes, in conversation, one might slap their head in a self-deprecating way while saying it when they realize they said something that's particularly obvious.

So, when jfont wrote "duh" to you in his post, he was agreeing with your comment in a kidding manner, which could also have been said as, "Well, yeah, " as if it went without saying.

I'm pretty sure he meant nothing by it other than he agreed with you, as he said.

Thanks reggie. That explains it. I thought it were odd that he chose that one player to make a comment on and now that you explained it, I get it. He is just saying he agrees with me in a joking manner. Thanks mate.

That may not be true. I am not sure where the payroll info came from, but they usually don't reflect money paying for contracts bought out or for players sent elsewhere where we may be splitting the cost.

Does anyone know what the Kings payroll was last season? Who made what?
