TSN says he's a goalie of ours..

never heard of him before, he's a 31 year old goalie we drafted in 1994.. he's not still around is he?

Change the team name at the end of the link and that's why it shows him for the Rangers.

His rights have long since expired.

bmoak 02-12-2007 10:01 PM

He's no longer Rangers property, since the new CBA no longer allows temas to hold the rights of drafted Euros ndefinitely.

He played in Hartford about 5-6 years ago, and is still around. You can usually see him at international events since he is the goalie for Team Kazakhstan.

the point is you can change the ending and substitute it for any NHL team you want.

for example:

Back on topic, remember when Yeremeyev actually played for the Rangers? He came out of nowhere, played fairly well in Hartford, had his cup of coffee with the big club, then disappeared back into the ether...

Actually, by the looks of things, he's doing allright at Dynamo Moscow:

Anyone know if Yeremeyev is a Russian name or Kazakh? I've always wondered...

Yeah, he was born in Kazakhstan and plays for their national team, but I am wondering if he is of Russian origin (like Evgeni Nabokov) or Kazakh.

Geogaddi 02-13-2007 12:02 AM

D'oh.

dynamoovechkin 02-13-2007 12:36 AM

He was born is Kazakhstan but the name could be Russian, Kazakh names are odder.

yes, he's of russian origin. yeremeyev is a russian last name, not kazakhi

YMB29 02-13-2007 08:39 PM

Most players who play for Kazakhstan are Russian.
I remember Yeremeyev played for the Rangers in like 2001. One game he had to play against the Penguins who were one of the best offensive teams that year. I felt sorry for him because the defence was very bad that game and he looked very scared. The Rangers lost I think 7-4.

Y-Guy is what I called him. He made four appearances that season, starting three games. On December 27, 2000 in Carolina, he came in for McLean who had yielded three goals on sixteen shots. Y-Guy stopped 13 of 14 over the final two periods and took the 4-3 loss.

He started on January 13 in Boston and lost again (4-1), yielding all 4 goals on 24 shots.

The Penguin encounter came February 23 and was a 6-4 loss in Pittsburgh (26 saves). Your memory is pretty darn good. There was a March 2 tilt in which Pittsburgh beat McLean 7-5.

Y-Guy's final chance was in MSG against the Isles (5-2 loss, 29 saves)

The Blueshirts switched to Guy Hebert after that. He went 5-6-1, never yielding fewer than 2 goals.

Mike Richter struggled as well that season even before going on I/R. He was 20-21-3 with a 3.27 GAA and .893 save percentage. McLean was 8-10-1, 3.49/.889

Boy would there be some great hockeyplayers if every young kid in the states wanted to be hockeyplayers, the game would be amazing!

US wouldn't be unbeatable, just like they can loose in Basketball they would be able to beat in hockey. But imagine the superstars!

Don't I wish! A big chain bookstore near me has been carrying a goalie magazine, which kind of surprised me since I've never seen it anywhere else, and when I was there last weekend, when I went to the "sports" shelf... lo and behold... the rack was packed with baseball mags. The only hockey mag to be found was THN's annual issue.

As for Yeremeyev, he's not the only goalie from last year's Olympics who had a brief stint as a Ranger. Czech netminder Milan Hnilicka played in Hartford in 99/00 and played two games with the big boys, and Canadian-born Italian citizen Jason Muzzatti played 6 games (0-3-2) with the Rangers in 97/98.

Um... yeah.... you'll all sleep better tonight for knowing that I'm sure.

Kendo 02-15-2007 08:21 AM

Was it Hnlicka or Yeremeyev that Sam was saying during the game that he didn't know a lick of english? 30 seconds later he got scored on because the defensemen didn't know who he was trying to pass to. intercept. score. i remember laughing. being pissed, but laughing.
