On Nedved and Hlavac......

"There's no excuse for them," Glen Sather said of the mistakes that dropped his team to 6-5-2-2 at home
I'm sorry, but this is like blaming the Tampa loss on officiating. It's only a valid excuse if you play a great game and still lose. That wasn't a great game from the team. It was a horrendous effort from just about everyone. Many gaffes more glaring that Hlavac's or Nedved's were comitted, but not converted on. I don't hear any comments from Sather on those.

I might be wrong...but I think he was referring to the mistakes made in general and not singling out Nedved and Hlavac in that comment. Again, I could be misinterpreting it.

True, almost the entire team was pitiful from the impotent Big Eunich to Brain dead Kasparitis, even Kovalev and Holik, and others....But the heartless Nedved and Hlavac have been absolutley worthless all year and if you ain't gonna contribute offensively at least play responsible and hard...Sather has treated Nedved with kid gloves this year, it's about time he singled him out.....

"They just reached the one-third mark of the season, so panic is an overreaction."

Agreed. Simple resignation would be a more logical response. A fire sale would be another good response. Players to trade (in order):

1. Jan Hlavac
2. Petr Nedved
3. Eric Lindros
4. Dimitri Mironov
5. Tom Poti
6. Martin Rucinsky
7. Anson Carter
8. Mark Messier

I call that a fine preamble to a fine rebuilding.
