Canadian bias?

CBC Morrison counts Rangers out, but has Toronto and Montreal as a possibility for this year playoffs:http://www.cbc.ca/sports/columns/morrison/

Well, thats it. CBC Morrison says it, the Rangers are out. Forget even playing the last 19 games.

Its not bias, its math. Montreal played 3 more games than us but they have 6 more points. We have to win every game in hand just to match them. Toronto has 1 game in hand and 3 more points, they're clearly in a better spot than us. Our chances of making the playoffs are pretty small.

Is this a joke? We will not be kind of this turns into a US vs Canada vs "Euro's" arguement.....again. :shakehead

Yes, it is a joke. All teams are Canadian... However he would have hard time to explain MTL fans why Rangers are in, while Habs are out. I do not say Rangers will make it, but we will be ahead of Monteal in final standings since they lost Huet(sp).

BigE 03-01-2007 11:41 AM

So it's bias when a Canadian says it, but when Larry Brooks or Dellapina or any other Ranger beat-writer says it, it's fine?

Up until last game the Rangers had lost three in a row and 4 out of 5. The Canadiens had won four in a row, and Toronto was winning also. It's simply looking at trends. The Rangers were, and probably still are, going in the opposite direction of these other clubs.

GarretJoseph* 03-01-2007 11:46 AM

we'll make the playoffs.

Fletch 03-01-2007 01:07 PM

It's the guy's opinion...

it's fine to disagree. Not sure if there's a bias. We Rangers fan are biased in saying the Rangers will not make the playoffs, when in fact they may. Eh, I wouldn't look into this.

Bias or not, NY is in charge of their own destiny, and need to get a streak going to prove some people wrong.

UAGoalieGuy 03-01-2007 06:07 PM

This is a little off topic but the Rangers only have like 5 Canadian players on their roster: Shanahan, Girardi, Betts, Orr, and Avery.

UA..

you're just inviting another Euro/N.A. debate; I can feel it coming...

That is completely irrelevant. My point was that Morrison could be biased because he writes for Canadian audience. As of now Rangers are better team than both TOR and MTL.
