Renney on WFAN

In a few minutes

RinkOnEStreet 03-09-2007 09:29 AM

This whole "Hollweg started it" thing is absolutely disturbing. Frightening even.

WhipNash27 03-09-2007 09:33 AM

he's on now

UAGoalieGuy 03-09-2007 09:35 AM

whats being said?

WhipNash27 03-09-2007 09:36 AM

They've been playing smarter and trying at home to play close, smart games and win instead of trying to put on a show. It's better to win 2-1 than lose 6-5.
Avery's the man
Mara was a good acquisition
Renney was stunned when Hollweg was hit
Shouldn't comment on what he thinks the length of suspension should be. Should be significant

WhipNash27 03-09-2007 09:40 AM

Says the goal was inconclusive and the angle, etc. It's more of a guess and you can't guess.
Shanny wants to play, but obviously can't and is doing better every day.
Will see if Lundqvist gets more time off. Would like to, but it depends. He's not sure at this point.
Dubinsky will stay for now during injuries. Big Strong Kid, like his upside, can shoot, pass, and has an edge. Anticipate his improvement until he's a regular.

WhipNash27 03-09-2007 09:41 AM

He supposes there can be a letdown after playing the Islanders. It's a part of preparing to make sure there isn't a letdown.

That's all

In The Flesh 03-09-2007 09:42 AM

good interview, dubinsky in the lineup at least until sunday, he says.

In The Flesh 03-09-2007 09:43 AM

thanks for the heads up Anthony

Anyone who tries to justify or put a spin on it that Simon was provoked needs their melon checked.

Billy Jaffe for example, that diry Islander HOMER. He was trying to actually, to an extent, rationalize the hit. You're a major sports broadcaster first, THEN a fan second.

You should see some of the posts on the Simon thread. "Hollweg is a dirty player, he deserved it", Hollweg knew what was coming to him", etc...

How can you be that classless?

Give me a break! Hollweg is a tough physical player who throws his body around. Nothing dirty about him.....but he will sometimes be called for throwing that body around, its the nature of the beast. People don't like that he's an equal opportunity checker....that doesn't make him dirty. The Crosby's can get hit just like the Simons!

Yeah, I know i've seen those already....despicable.

And to answer the last part of the post; If you're from Philly.

Dagoon44 03-09-2007 10:29 AM

If the Hollweg started it was the way to think then Prucha should have gone to the locker room gassed up a chain saw and cut Simons fu###ng head off after he ran him face first on Monday. Jaffe should be fined for his comments idiots are what ruin the game

Right before Renney was on, one of the guys that called into WFAN (he was either an Isles or Flyers fan - I'm pretty sure it was the Flyers) said that after Hollweg made the initial hit and the puck had cleared the zone, Hollweg skated back towards Simon for absolutely no reason and was therefore looking for trouble. Of course he went on to say that he was in no way justifying what Simon did....IMO, that kind of logic should win the caller a scholarship to the Moron Academy. :shakehead

Wasn't he just going back to the bench for a line change? He didn't take one look at Simon so I have no clue where he got this idea from

Brunomics 03-09-2007 04:21 PM

Isles fan here, yea to me Hollweg definitely looked like he was just going back for a change when Simon blasted him. Don't get me wrong I still think that was a boarding call but you don't try to kill the guy with your stick. If anything you drop the gloves and go with the guy.
