A lot funnier now than it was two weeks ago...

Maybe this is the reverse-jinx we needed:

http://www.nbcsports.com/bellowingmo...01/detail.html

"The Rangers are now comfortably in 11th place in the east, and still have four games remaining against the Islanders, who have run up a 4-0 record against the blueshirts this season.

In other words, the playoffs are a remote dream for the Rangers, who are likely to miss the post season for the fifth time in six years under the stewardship of GM Glen Sather, whose moves at the trade deadline amounted to picking up scrap heap defenseman Paul Mara, unwanted by the Bruins, even though hes from Boston."

We all know how this turned out!

I hope the Rangers post that article all over the lockeroom...

Are you mocking the moose or implying that you know the identity?

He was born there, but he grew up and played as a kid in Boston.

VEGASRANGERFAN 03-19-2007 09:58 PM

I say we wait until we clinch a spot before we start gloating.

Agreed.

bcrt2000 03-19-2007 10:20 PM

I'll repeat what Brett Hull said, The Bellowing Moose needs to get his head out of his rear end.

Geogaddi 03-19-2007 11:02 PM

Man im more fueled for making the playoffs based off of the comments Barry Melrose made. Something along the lines of us having no chance, and that we're down and out.

I agree with this sentiment. We still have a lot of games that need to be played.

Pogo 03-20-2007 03:37 AM

Here's dumb (although not really related)

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns

"NHL players twice before have been prosecuted for on-ice incidents. The Vancouver Canucks' Todd Bertuzzi pleaded guilty to causing bodily harm and missed 20 games for a blindside punch that left Colorado forward Steve Moore with broken bones in his neck on March 11, 2004. And the Rangers' Marty McSorley was convicted of assault with a weapon for slashing Vancouver's Donald Brashear in the head with his stick in February 2000. Bertuzzi missed 20 games, and McSorley was given an 18-month conditional discharge."

Yeah he played sometime for the Rangers.... but not then.

Also just for fun, man this picture rocks, I'm sure someone can use it as an avatar:

My favorite is Adam Proteau of the Hockey News

Quote:

I’ll say it again: the Blueshirts are a team in no small amount of trouble and if they don’t straighten out their dressing room issues, they’ll be much closer to securing the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft than a playoff berth.

Quote:

Yeah, I’m singling out the Blueshirts and Oilers to fail in this season’s playoff race. And yeah, I’m fully prepared for the onslaught of vicious feedback that will come my way because of it.

New York Rangers: Dear Glen Sather: there’s a reason why Paul Mara is on his fifth NHL team in eight seasons. Even if Aaron Ward and Jaromir Jagr got along like Tim Hardaway and Rosie O’Don1nell, that’s no reason to take on another quarter-million in salary cap space next season. Paging Mark Messier…

Fifth team?Adam is either losing his mind or didn't learn how to count

Mara>Ward

does anyone disagree that he is a better fit for the Rangers at the moment? And I like Ward, but I'd do that trade again. Wouldn't you?

As of right now, yeah. Mara has been surprisingly good on D, and has contributed some offense as well. Now if he'd just get first unit PP time and shoot the puck ;)

Bluenote13 03-20-2007 10:14 AM

I still shake my head at Clement, Jones & co on Vs. picking Toronto & Carolina over us and they named all the reasons except they didnt bring up who has THE BEST GOALIE from those squads ;)

In Henke We Trust :yo:

Not gloating -- even if we don't make the playoffs, it's far from "a remote dream" and Mara has been pretty good so far. That's all.

Pretty much everyone is mocking the pundits, but who here would have disagreed with them at the time that most of these prognostications came out?

It pains me to admit this, but it was the Maven himself who carried that burden:
