Luca Cereda
Has anyone here been able to watch him this season? I was wondering how he has played since returning to Switzerland a few years ago. I've seen his stats but I just wanted to know if he's become more of a defensive type player or maybe a pk specialist or something. I haven't seen him play since his days with the St. John's Maple Leafs a few years back. Also, has he completely overcome his heart condition or does it still have its effects on his fitness level? This isn't just a Maple Leafs fan with wishful thinking that he makes another attempt to make it to the NHL or anything, I'm just curious about how his career has developed since his departure from North America. I've always felt bad and had a soft spot for him with the way his illness derailed his career. Thanks in advance for any information anyone has.

You basically guessed it right, he's been a defensive specialist ever since returning to Switzerland.

And I believe his heart condition no longer affect him.

He's not a good player and will probably spend his remaining career on mediocre teams.

For sure, he's not a scorer. He made one of his best seasons when he plays with DiPietro and Petrov with Ambri-Piotta. So, his stats were boosted at this time. And because he was a teenager, some scouts have a peek on him.

But like Steve says, it's good defensive player. But not good enough to have a Switzerland's selection this year.

But imo, it's not a bad player.

Thanks for the responses, I guess I wasn't too far off on my guesses about him. Do you guys think there is any chance he makes the national team in the future?

He has already played several times for Switzerland. It's possible he'll have some calls for Ralph Krüger in the future.

If he makes the national team in the future it's only because there is a coach named Ralph Krüger.:help:

Luca Cereda's carrier is finished at 26. He has again some heart troubles.
