Cody Franson

Being a 3 year season ticket holder I would like to know where u think Franson ranks on the Predators prospect depth chart.

Joe T Choker 05-30-2007 12:51 AM

Weber
Hamhuis
Suter
Zanon
Zidlicky

---------

and he's jumbled somewhere below that line ... along with Klein, Laakso, Sulzer, etc, etc, etc

As for the prospect draft chart...

I would say he is currently in our top 3 defensemen and possibily in our top three overall prospects as well. I think Kevin Klein is currently our top defensive prospect simply because he is NHL ready and has been for a season, but yet both Franson and Teemu Laakso are pushing for the top spot as well because I think they have a higher potential.

I would say entering training camp as far as making the roster it would be:
Klein
Franson
Laakso

But as far as potential I can see it as:
Franson
Laakso
Klein

Franson had a better 05/06 season than 06/07. Cody was a 7th defensive man for the World Jr's and a PP specialist. Cody didn't have a great Memorial cup, he wasn't one of the top three d-men on his team. Maybe he will pick up his game in the AHL in a system that has brought along so many good young d-men, but I think he needs his ass kicked.

He wasn't a hungrey last year as he was during his draft year, time will tell about this guy?

That's a pretty conflicting report with what others have said. On the prospects board, a few people said it was a toss-up who was the best defenseman in the entire CHL this year between Russell and Franson, with both jumping over each other at different times.

He did very good in the memorial cup this but i think give him one more year before he goes into the nhl.

i'd like to know what you Preds fans think of Franson's NHL potential and what kind of numbers will he put up once he's there...

I've heard/read alot of good things about this guy but for some reason I'm not completely sold on him...a gm in my fantasy league is trying to sell me on him...

On a junior level Franson is half the d-man than Russell, in the future in the NHL and AHL Franson will be better. Russell is a very small version of Bourque or Coffee, great for junior but too small to make a big splash in the NHL.

Russell has two gold medals, Franson one as a 7th defenseman, do you think of them in the same league on a junior level?

I'm sold on Franson, Klein and Zanon will be better IMO.
