Kyle Bailey

The Wild also failed to get deals done with two 2005 draft picks - third-round goaltender Kristofer Westblom and fourth-round centre Kyle Bailey

Bailey was teammates of Dubinsky in Portland from 02-03 in the WHL. Anyone think Sather will sign him. We can use another young centre. Sather loves players that know each other. Maybe this would factor. I hope we sign him. Id rather have him than Falardeau at centre on the Pack next year. It would also give us a chance to move Immonen at the draft if we chose to do so.

JayMan82 06-02-2007 10:21 PM

I wouldn't mind this either...

me either, come on Sather sign some young kids, we found Busto out of nowhere, lets sign these 2 to replace Isbister and Rachunek on the 50 man roster :handclap:

Byers played on the same team as AJ Thelen in 05-06 as well as Lukas Zeliska did this year.

FLYLine24 06-02-2007 10:47 PM

Eh, Baily....if he was offered a AHL contract I probably wouldn't object that much, I wouldn't give him a 3 year NHL contract though.

As for AJ, I am not interested.

Whats the deal with Thelan?

1st round pick...no sign

thrown off the college team for partying?

Sounds like a Sather project waiting to happen

i can see sather signing him. better a young 21 year old than an 28 year old AHL vet.

NYR469 06-02-2007 10:53 PM

bailey isn't a ufa, he has to re-enter the draft...and the fact that he was a teammate with dubinsky doesn't make him good. but this would be hf if you didn't suggest we went after every scrub and waiver wire fodder available

NYR469 06-02-2007 10:54 PM

i'd sign thelen in a heartbeat, he's got a huge upside and it'll cost us nothing but $$ so its worth the risk...there is no harm in signing him to play in hartford and hope we get lucky

Disagree, he HAD a huge upside when he was 18, but since then he's done zero. He's turned into a huge 1st round bust IMO and I wouldnt even waste a cent on him.

He doesn't play with heart and based on how the rangers have drafted/signed in the past 2-3 years, I don't see them taking this heartless player.

Well, you've probably seen him more than I have (0)... Looking at his productivity, I can't say I disagree with the regression part...

I've only watched him once (when he played Sauer's team) but in that game i noticed his lack of heart and he was not a energy type player at all. And reading reports of him they pretty much confirmed that to me that is his normal style of play. He might have a lot of talent, but the last thing we want is another Brendel type player.

Inferno 06-02-2007 11:36 PM

could be he just need a kick in the pants. id take a risk on him.

id rather have a 21 year old scub than ahl vets like isbister taking dawes spot on the team.

Ditto... I would be happier signing Thelen than overpaying for a UFA

Not saying it's the same situation, because it clearly isn't, but a change of scenery for Bourret completely changed him overall. Maybe this was a wakeup call for Thelan, maybe not. I don't know. We kind of neeed Isbister as that emergency call up. I don't know if we have room for him.

i hope we dont see isbister back, he had alot of chances to score and did not. Dawes should have gotten another chance before they were playing Isbister.

Absolutely agree. On a longterm basis I want Isbister doing absolutely nothing. I only want Isbister to hang around in Hartford an get called up for 2 days when somebody goes down and they need a quick plug.

id rather have byers or a young kid getting those minutes. other teams call up young kids.

Inferno 06-03-2007 02:39 AM

i want isbister brought back for hartford.

he has excellent leadership qualities for that team.

The Amity Affliction 06-03-2007 02:47 AM

Thelen being signed at the minimum is a very low-risk move. He'd make our future defense corps that much deeper, and his attitude/character problems can be sorted out. Maybe, as another poster previously mentioned, this is his wake-up call. What's the big deal in signing this kid to the minimum for 2-3 years?

And the Rangers don't?

Please explain...

I may disagree with the handling, but recall that the Rangers, at one point, iced 6 rookies at the same time. They leaned on Hartford in times of injuries. I'd say that they call up the kids.

they should have called up Dawes before Isbister. They could have given Dawes another shot. Imagine Dawes with Cullen and Callahan or Dawes Avery Shanny. id rather have Dawes on the team over Brad "I cant score" Isbuster.

I agree that dawes should have been brought up instead of isbister, but you can't say the rangers dont bring up young kids when the last two years we've seen lundqvuist, tyutin, prucha, and callahan play major roles. not to mention the callups of dubinsky and immonen.

IMO, if dubinsky had played on fire the first few games, he would have stayed the rest of the year. The Rangers are dying for that kid to succeed.

Please think before you post. The Rangers call up young players. They have three defensemen that are under 24 (Girardi, Pock and Tyutin). They have five forwards who are under 26 (Callahan, Hollweg, Hossa, Orr and Prucha). Add in the callups of Dawes, Immonen, Dubinsky and Liffiton and it seems they do just that call up young kids.

Don't mask whatever agenda you have with false statements.
