I was watching TSN online yesterday and they brought up a point I hadn't thought about. They were saying that the teams with lots of money would still have an advantage over teams like the Preds (though they didn't mention us by name). The money teams would be able to put a lot more money up front in a contract than we would be able to afford. For example, Timonen's contract costs $6.3 million per year against the cap but the first two years actually pays him $8 million each year.

Same I believe with Briere who will get $10 million this year.

There's no way that the Preds could match that kind of offer in terms of true cash flow (actual money in and out each year) with the market that we have.

What do y'all think?

The classic struggle between Big Market and Small Market teams. You know, that whole thing we have the lockout over....

Right now though, I'm just glad there is a salary floor in place....
