Why Boyd Kane?

I was kind of looking forward to see Patrick Sharp for next few weeks as a Flyers 4th line Center... But unfortunately Flyers called up Boyd Kane... I hope they change their mind and call Partick sharp... I thought he played really well last time Flyers called him up... What's your thought?

I really like Boyd Kane. I would rather have him than Sharp.

He is a big guy at 6'2. I don't think Hitch is in need of another center. He adds some size to the lineup. Primeau is 6'5 so Boyd's size will be a good thing to have in the lineup. He plays an up-and-down game, is strong along the wall and never tires of getting his nose dirty. He will be doing the same things as Primeau. We also only have Eastern Conference opponents and we are going to need the size and bulk. Kane works for me. Give him a shot and see what he can do.

Boyd Kane seems to be pretty decent, maybe they'd prefer Sharp getting more significant ice time in the AHL than 6 minutes with the Flyers for the next three weeks.

I agree with you, would like to see Kane get more like 9-10 mins per game.

Possibly Hitch wanted to see how Somik would do as a center. In the last few games Somik has impressed me a lot with his tenacity and work ethic. He has also had very good stick handling which lead to some serious chances. I think against Floida he deaked out two defensemen that brought me out of my chair.

As for the point of this thread I think Kane was brought in to help replace some of the size we are missing while Primeau is out. Sharp had his call up and he probably would be up again if any other of the centers would have gone out but Primeau is a big physical guy unlike Sharp.

I'm not sure why Preems is missing time... it's his thumb, not a leg or head injury or anything. He doesn't score, so his checking abilities wouldn't really be affected that much... Can't he just wrap up his hand real good and use it as some kind of a club-like device? :)

Kane's fine with me, he's big and he's an agitating player to play against. If nothing more, he'll draw some retaliatory penalties. He might take a few of his own though. Gritty, hard-nosed, solid player.
