Former Habs in the Swiss League

I was just taking a break from working and I wondered how Oleg Petrov did in the Spengler Cup. Could find the top scorer list on the website. So I went to the DAvos site... anyway I just saw that 3 former player from the habs are in the top 12 scorers of the NLA in the swiss League. There is A. Bashkirov who plays for Lausanne, Oleg Petrov who plays for Servette and Paul Di Pietro for Zug. Just thought it would be fun to checkout what the former habs are doing. Eric Landry plays for a team in the Swiss League too.

I saw most of the Spengler Cup games. Petrov was really good, and totally led his team. Scored a few if I recall. Lots speculate that he could still be in the NHL, but I don't think so... Maybe on a team like Pittsburgh or Chicago, if any.

DiPietro played really well for Canada, he scored numerous times. I remember his two goal game against Davos ? Or was it Yaroslavl... I can't remember, but he really seems to flourish on the bigger ice surface (and lower talent pool).

Bashkirov and Landry were also playing in the Spengler tournament. Didn't show much. I think Landry was playing for Davos, his name came up a few times but I don't remember him making any great plays or scoring...

It was interesting to see some old Habs players there, but none of them (of course) could fit on our team nowadays. I'm glad Petrov and DiPietro are doing well in Europe... always good to see our alumni going on to good careers elsewhere.

I've always been a Petrov fan and always will be.

He might not of been blessed with NHL size or the skills to easily overcome that, but he gave it all shift in and shift out and was exciting to watch.

Same here, he was always funt to watch. Remember the
Zubrus-Zholtok-Petrov line? My favorite was Zednik-Gilmour-Petrov.

Jonas Hoglund plays for Davos.

He's also a former Hab.

The announcers during the final said that Petrov had won the MVP for the Spengler Cup (it was decided before the final)
