Bourret is ready for the next camp!

I think seriously this kid can cause a big surprise at the next training camp. See the video and watch the last sequence and see his legs ....(dynamite). I'm not surprise that this kid weight 205 pounds, he's built strong.

umm...at no time during this video do we see Bouret actually play hockey. How useful can it be?

nyrcallahan24 08-25-2007 06:13 AM

Not very. I could throw a pair of skates on John Basedow but he;s not gonna light anything up.

That being said, yes, Bourret could turn some heads. I think he needs another year in the AHL though, he was so up and down last season.

He looks to be in terrific shape, those thrashers fans who bashed him in that regard were way off.

I wholeheartedly disagree. John Basedow definitely has top 6 potential. He would have been drafted if there was a transfer agreement in place.

The Thomas J.* 08-25-2007 11:36 AM

Lots of strenth & Flexablity exercises in his routine.

SML 08-25-2007 12:19 PM

Basedow would immediately move past Michal Handzus in the "most ridiculous hair in the league" challenge.

Heske_44 08-25-2007 12:22 PM

He looks really driven if this is a normal day. Good for him I hope he pulls it out. I think he'll end up taking Prucha's spot on the second line next season once Shanny retires.

SML 08-25-2007 12:32 PM

I relly hope he has a trainer working with him. Those were some of the most awkward exercises and drills I have ever seen. I swore he was going to drop a nut after his deadlifts and hurt himself.

shoothepuck 08-25-2007 12:48 PM

Always good to see a motivated individual work out, but how it translates to hockey skills is another story.

I think the idea is that if the biggest complaint about him at this point as a prospect is his conditioning, work habits, physical shape, etc. Then supposedly this video contradicts that and he will show up in camp like a tank and ready to go.

Personally, I don't see it. It's just a video. And you never see his gut. I could film the exact same routine in one day. If I got on the ice, I'd be dead in 3 minutes.

Or maybe he's learned from his mistake and is taking off-season training much more seriously this summer.

That's because they believe their own team's management's ********. If you don't watch the player yourself and go on what your GM (possibly the worst in the business) says, then you're bound to get misinformation.

I thought it was Dubinsky who was not great at fitness, i could be wrong but I think Sam Rosen said it when Dubinsky got called up for his first NHL game.

nyrcallahan24 08-26-2007 06:57 AM

the workout is, um... different. :biglaugh: i wounder what my tack coach would say if i started doing that with the wrights and the hurdles.
