Why so few trades?
Anybody notice how few real deals have happened this year?

More coaches have been fired than trades made.

i think it has something to do with the new CBA... contenders cant improve there teams as much as they would like to because they dont want to loose future assets along with the player they aquire, and not everyone wins the cup obviously, so many teams just would rather keep what they got and hope it pans out

Agree about the CBA being a big part of the reason. No team seems to want to assume a contract that runs beyond this season, while teams looking to trade just want to move players who have long term deals for reasonably large sums of money.

I wonder if we're going to see a bit of a reversal of the norm this season at the deadline. Players who will be UFA might command a premium price while players signed for another couple of years might be had for far less than expected as some teams try to trim the future fat.

i'll agree

simply put, with the new CBA in the near future there are just too many sellers and not enough buyers.

But what about even-salary deals?

Like? What are the chances that you can find a good deal where salary is the same or less and works for your team?

That and with the boatload of guys retireing complicates things.
