Stat calculation question
 

I'm keeping track of goalie stats, and I hit a little snag. Single full game GAA is obviously easy enough, but I get caught in a situation where the goalie was pulled after a certain amount of minutes. If you could help me with these examples, I'd appreciate it.

Game one: 60 MP, 1 GA. GAA=1.00
Game two: 20 MP, 5 GA. GAA=?
Running total: 80 MP, 6 GA. GAA=?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Game 2: GAA=15.00 (5 goals / 1/3 game)
Total: GAA= 4.50 (6 goals / 1.33 games)

GAA = GA/Minutes * 60 (or whatever the standard length of game is in your league).
6/80 * 60 = 4.50 GAA

The problem with the above methods considers that a goalie will have been scored on had they continued play. I keep it very simple. 1 minute or 60 its a game for the goalie. I am not about to add more goals to a goalie stat than have been actually scored. Its a bit of a mercy but unless its pros, does it really matter?

As an example of the scew that can happen...if goalie starts game and is pulled after 25 minutes and 5 goals, sits for 15 and then retakes the net allowing no more goals. Use the suggested math and you will have to add goals that simply werent scored. It penalizes the goalie, regardless of the reason for missed time. It will also exaggerate stats for goalies who split ice. A game is a game. Dont worry about the minutes, is my suggestion. It treats all goalies fairly.
