He really belongs under MVP: most valuable pylon.

Clymer for Norris!

Jasper17 09-26-2007 07:22 AM

Well Clark should be on the list, he scored the 3rd most goals of any player on the Caps current roster last year. So I can understand that.

Clymer as a defensman once again shows that people just don't follow the Caps closely enough to know anything about Morrisonn.

Funkyalligator 09-26-2007 07:53 AM

Hmmm....they forget to include Nylander, Backstrom and Kozlev on the most points list but include Clark....dumb.....and for godsakes...including Clymer on the best defenseman list...that is just sad

Clark has scored more points than Kozlov wach of the last two season's.
Backstrom is a rookie, no doubt a 30 goal scorer should be ahead of him.

I think its far from dumb to include Clark over those two, in fact its common sense.

Including Clark over Nylander, not so much.

sk84fun_dc 09-26-2007 09:29 AM

A simple poll, which appears to be a grab of the top point producers by 'position' from last season with the addition of a name acquisition in Poti. No surprise and nothing to be outraged over, IMO. And given it is ESPN, I am not expecting much with regard to the preview.

While a little research would eliminate listing Clymer as a D, that is a mistake based on nhl.com and other sites failure to update his position; so one looks at games played and his stats assuming he played D and runs with it. It is the most likely mistake one will see from someone that doesn't know about this team and while they probably should have listed Nylander (or Kozlov), Clark is not an outrageous option to list based on the last couple of seasons; don't think anyone would select him of the three, but it is not like they listed Brashear.

Well, only my opinion, but I wasn't upset over the prediction about the team for the upcoming season in that other preview; plenty of unknowns regarding this team, as well as many other teams and there will be other previews and predictions this preseason that will paint the Caps with a similar brush at the high level. My issues were related to the development of the themes with flawed supporting information and the lack of fact-checking, as well as the tone. As pointed out in the other thread, some basic and simple research would have eliminated many of the mistakes. It is the reason I posted the links to the other previews and the claims about their work product by the organization circulating that piece. And I may not have posted in that thread, if not for the 'defense' posted in the thread itself, which gave insight into the dated and biased perspective of the 'author', as well as a lack of interest in learning much, if anything, about the current team before writing a preview.

Total Votes: 62

it's probably bad for Pothier that Clymer is currently beating him in votes right now for most valuable D

Mo is always going to be one of those players who quietly go about their business and never standout or be appreciated by anyone that doesn't follow the team on a regular basis

Clymer on D :biglaugh:

mrwarden 09-26-2007 12:08 PM

To me the thing about the poll is not only doesn't ESPN, the world wide leader in sports, know enough about the Caps not include Clymer as a defensemen, they ask if he'll be our most important...and 16% say yes...

Burnside is a Cap lover now????? That's a 180 turn from where he was not long ago. Maybe he'll actually let us stay in the NHL, and not be contracted as he suggested a year or so ago. His Thrashers were 22nd in the league in attendance last year, while winning the division, but for some reason he never suggested contracting them

I've refuse to say anything nice about Burnside for quite a while now. Hradek is kinda "meh" in my book, but Burnside is the biggest idiot in the world for reasons that go beyond this week.
