According to Tippett's words yesterday, Mike Smith will be in net for the Stars

IIRC, he had some insane game against us last year.

It will be interesting to see how the new-look Preds fare in Dallas. Our older teams(03-04 and earlier) always seemed to have the Stars' number, but at the point we became a more speed-oriented, counterattack team, they've always shut us down. Now that we're back to a mentality that's a little more like the teams of the past, I'm hoping we regain some of our strength against the Stars, because they've absolutely had our number the past 2 seasons.

I'm hoping to see a little more from the Legwand\Erat line, I felt like they were pretty invisible offensively in the last game, though thats likely due to Ortmeyer being the third component.

golfmade 10-06-2007 11:03 AM

Hope they've got the parade for Modano already set up, would hate to upset Stars fans again.

5-2 Preds win, Bonk with the game winner.

Go Preds! :yo:

if weber and kelin are both injured, does it mean koistinen will play?

Yes, Koistinen is slated to make his NHL debut tonight.

Does anyone know why Comcast cable would have "(Blackout)" next to the listing on channel 28(FSN) for this game, on my guide? I wanted to Tivo it, but now I'm nervous that it won't be shown for some reason. I don't see it on any other channel, so I thought maybe it was some sort of error.

Jarnberg 10-06-2007 02:23 PM

Another huge game early on. We usually do terrible against the Stars.

We have to get the lead early and absolutely cannot fall behind, as we have a hard time getting back into games where the Stars have the lead.

This will be an interesting game. I think our offense looked a little better then it should have on Thursday; against Dallas, we'll absolutely need to keep some pressure in their zone and take advantage of any scoring opportunity. We must score on the PP in a game like this.

I think it is blacked out, the Dallas feed is the only one on the Center Ice schedule the last time I looked.

That doesn't mean anything, though. The game is listed on the FSN site and the Preds site, no mention of blackout.

Nice way to open at home. Congrats to Legwand!

Olaf 10-06-2007 11:35 PM

Great night..

Intersting to open with game with God Bless America instead of the National Anthem..... I take it a little dig at Lites and the stars ...to not have the "stars" shouted..Gave me a good laugh to start.

Very solid game from Koistinen, loved his poise.
Also liked the work by Smithson and Ortmeyer...

Legwand seems to have more confidence out there, great game all around.....shut down the Modano line and a hat trick.

And of course Mason has been fantastic.

I love this team....

Jarnberg 10-06-2007 11:37 PM

Just got back after the game.

Another good performance. The Stars looked pretty tired out there tonight and the Predators took advantage like they should have.

Another awesome night for Chris Mason; he's made some great saves. I think he played much better tonight then on Thursday. He came up big when needed. Its a shame he gave up a goal tonight, but I'll take the win. Can't fault him on the break away goal though.

Big props to Greg Zanon, as he played awesome again. He's really turning out to be a solid, solid player for us. Great diving poke check too to stop a Dallas breakaway.

Legwand and Erat were money.

We did what we needed to do, score early. We forced the Stars to open up a little bit and got some more goals. They're a hard team to play against, especially if they have the lead.

My only beef is that we sat back a little too much towards the end of the second and most of the third period. We also took some stupid penalties. Thats a bad habit that plagues us alot; we need to drop it.

Overall, another solid win. We need to take every point we can right now, its a long season.

Basher 10-06-2007 11:50 PM

Yes yes yes - this is exactly what we need. Confidence - belief that this team is one that can win without the big names we lost, and while our (arguably) best d-man is on the shelf.

Attendance was pretty crappy, I hated seeing all the empty seats - but honestly, the atmosphere was pretty good - and a fun game to be at. I could have copped out and bought some cheaper tix online, but I paid my dues at the box office...I was a +2 on the night for tickets bought :)

JussiM 10-07-2007 03:13 AM

Go Legwand & Mason! Wait, scratch that, go Preds! :handclap:

How did Koistinen do?

Roger Explosion 10-07-2007 03:26 AM

Yay another win! :handclap:

PeterAngelo 10-07-2007 06:34 AM

I don't mean to turn into Mr pessimist. I'm very glad for the two 4 goal wins the team has provided to open the season, don't get me wrong, but the 1st real test lies in the St.Louis game I feel. Despite playing very well these last two the fact remains that we have played 2 fatigued teams and a backup goalie (Smith) who was dreadful at best. Still, couldn't ask for more so far :handclap:

btw does anyone have the attendances from the first 2 games? i can't find them anywhere.

While both teams had played the night before, that wasn't the deciding factor in the game. Fatigue shouldn't plague teams early in the game, yet that's exactly when the Preds jumped on both the Stars and the Avs. We may not have won in landslides both times had each team been rested. But I think we would have won regardless.

well ut did play georgia(in knoxville) and vandy hosted aurburn, so i am sure competing with the college football is a tough ticket. remember the magic number is averaging 14+k/game.

Don't forget UF/LSU, who played one of the best college football games this year.
