N757SS - Air Stars

As many of you are aware, the Dallas Stars/Texas Rangers old 727-223 (N698SS) has been replaced by N757SS, a 1983 Boeing 757-236L. Before being bought by Hicks and converted it was most recently known as N757BJ operated by Pace Airlines. There it was primarily used as a charter and team transporter.
How it appeared up until this year:

For some reason Southwest Sports LLC did not allow tracking of their 727, but the 757 and its travels are open to observation.

At the time of this post they are at 37000 feet and 620mph over Tennessee on the way to Newark to play the Rangers, Islanders & Devils.

In case you were curious, it started its life in 1983 as G-BKRM flying passengers for Air Europe and then was leased to British Airways where it also flew as G-BKRM until PACE acquired it.

That's a pretty awesome feature. I wonder if at the end of the year we can see everywhere Dallas has been over the last 82 games lol it should paint quite the picture of life as a NHL player out west :D

EatSleepJeep 11-25-2007 11:03 AM

Sure can.

piqued 11-25-2007 06:09 PM

It's from 1983? Hicks is cheap. :sarcasm:

hdw 11-25-2007 06:13 PM

Why is it only showing Stars logo and name if it's used by Texas Rangers too?

Or is that on the other side?

piqued 11-25-2007 06:43 PM

It's on the other side. The seat covers with the Stars logo are removable also.

EatSleepJeep 11-26-2007 09:58 AM

You can also see both team logos represented on the armrest plates in a few of those photos.

I guess Hicks didn't want to be seen as shortchanging his two teams while Cuban's Mavericks had a 75 and they were stuck in a 72.

Funny thing is, they fly the Stars out of Dallas-Love Field due to its proximity to the AAC but the plane is hangared at Ft. Worth-Meacham Intl. When they need to pick up the team, they make a 6 minute flight across town, but Dallas-Ft. Worth Intl. is smack dab in the way. Funny-shaped flight profiles ensue...

That's pretty interesting (and one pretty sweet plane). I wish there was a way to track the Devils flights like that, it would be cool to check out.

620 mph?!?!?!? :amazed:

EatSleepJeep 11-29-2007 07:41 AM

Actually, at 2:27 on that day their groundspeed was 584 knots. That's 672 mph (1,081 kph for our Canadian friends). There must have been some favorable tailwinds, as the top speed for a 757 is 609 mph in calm skies.

Just as the 'Red Bird', which sports a combined Red Wings and Tigers livery, and the Little Caesar's Pizza logo on the tail.

As always, those planes are owned by some financial institute (you don't buy stuff like this, no matter how rich you are, you lease them), then leased to a professional operator (operating a commercial aircraft is not a simple task).

10-Jan-2008 > KSTL-KLAX
Redeye to LA after the loss to the Blues.

EatSleepJeep 01-11-2008 04:38 PM

Repositioning flight:
11-Jan-2008 > KLAX-KLGB

Aircraft was flown empty from LAX to Long Beach for 2 reasons:
1) Closer to Honda Center, easier to leave town after Tuesday's game
2) Ramp parking fees are much cheaper at LGB

The team's equipment will be trucked over to Honda after the game at Staples.
