Not interested in moving O'Neill or Vrbata and no interest in Nedved or Hlavac who was already a bust here before. Keep pitching for Brind'Amour though.

n00dles 01-18-2004 06:50 AM

let's see:

salary-wise it is almost the same for both teams (if I remember correctly)

value wise the canes would get robbed. ok all these players are currently underachieving (maybe except BrindA'mour) but I believe that the canes could get much better return during the trade deadline.
BrindA'mour is a proven good overall player and O'Neill is just in a heavy funk so late in the season they might fetch better players for the rebuilding Canes from teams that suit up for the playoffs

n00dles 01-18-2004 06:55 AM

ok, I just checked Brind'Amours stats (and the correct spelling of his name)
the whole bunch is underachieving

Son of Steinbrenner 01-18-2004 07:16 AM

how about
nedved carter lundmark 2nd round pick

BrindA'mour,O'Neill,Vrbata

i understand the Canes fans don't want to do this trade but i really believe brind'amour and o'neill will be playing elsewhere before the season is over. Rumors are just to rampant that they will be.

WoodGundy 01-18-2004 07:24 AM

Not sure why anyone would think Nedved fits in Carolina. Brind'Amour is probably not worth $5m to a team like Carolina, but he is a lot more woth it than Nedved.

O'Neill won't be moved if all he will fetch in return is the crap being offered on the O'Neill proposals thread.

brettski011 01-18-2004 08:06 AM

Nedved, Carter, Lundmark, and a 2nd round pick i think would do it for

Brind'Amour, O'Neill, and Vrbata

All in all thats a equal trade...

In the mind of a man insane, perhaps. No way Carolina does these deals.

We could at least argue these points:
1. Carter - O'Neill
2. Lundmark & pick - Vrbata

I wouldn't do either deal, but Nedved - Brind'Amour would be rivaled only by Francis/Samuelson - Cullen Falls/Zalapski for worst trade in the history of the franchise.

You would rather give up Lundmark and a 2nd instead of Hlavac? Yep, you and Sather are made for each other. So much for building a farm system.

Take out the pick or prospect from the Rangers side and Brindy from the Canes sign and I'll drive the three as far as Virginia. Some Cane fan can pick them up from there!

No sir i didnt say that. But Value wise i dont think the Canes would want hlavac. i'll make you happy and just you.
purinton to canes
staal brind'amour o'neill vrbta and a 1st round pick to the rangers.

Including lundmark and a 2nd in my original deal was to even the trade out. I'm sure you must know that hlavac didn't work out in carolina and they would have no use for him. lundmark isn't even a prospect anymore. hate to break it to you singing but you need to give up value to get value. something perhaps you have forgot.

this is just silly. i can see a oneill for a lundmark package-but to "throw in" vrbata.... :shakehead. he is a guy theyre building around. if they trade oneill, thats it...rebuilding time. they want younger, cheaper, players with potential. not older ,expensive, and worse-nedved. brindamour has way more value not scoring than nedved. a brindamour/carter deal is possible, if theycan make the money work. if your going to propose oneill trades-dont include other young canes...doesnt make sense.

Brind'Amour and Lindros on the same team? Never again ... that's means Lindros would be that much closer to Rod's wife again. Don't think it'll happen.

Not sure if that was a sarcastic answer or not so I will answer anyways. When Lindros and Brind'Amour were both playing for the Flyers, Lindros was supposedly having fun with Rod's wife and Rod suppposedly laid a beating on Lindros at practice. Thats why Rod was traded.

I've heard the same thing.

didnt tocchet lay the beating down? i heard it was one of his teamates-another veteran that stood up for rod. was tochett back in philly at that time?

Billy The Kid 01-19-2004 05:56 PM

I heard that it was Tocchet that gave Lindros a hard shot to the face.
