Rutherford had also said on the radio that the new players would be in the lineup tonight against the Sens.

interesting...I wonder what is going on...

Now we know...Williams for Markov...

From the STL Post Dispatch: "The Carolina Hurricanes are preparing to make a deal, according to several reports. The Blues have been in contact with Carolina, but it's not known how recently or what names were discussed."

Jeff O'Neill 01-20-2004 09:47 AM

Hope its not O'Neill to the leafs.....that would break my heart

I am assuming its D-men to Philly for some forwards

Looks like I'll have tsn.ca consistently on refresh

I wouldnt be surprised if its the Bruins...They just picked up Slegr and they sat out Jilson..Me thinks maybe Jilson could be headed to the Canes then?..would make sense...I am sure there may be more pieces to this puzzle than Jilson, but again I wouldnt be surprised if its Boston who ends up with O'Neil...they coveted him before when they dealt Carter...many rumours had him going to the Canes for O'Neil...so we'll see

Good point he could be headed there for rolston and something else

officeglen 01-20-2004 10:01 AM

Shouldn't that be "I could be headed there...."

Old Hickory 01-20-2004 10:02 AM

(Keeping my fingers crossed it the Kings)

Since the players are expected in the lineup tonight and the trade still hasn't been announced yet, could the trade involve the visiting Ottawa Senators? After all, there's less then 8 hours left to inform the player, get him to Raleigh and have ready to play. It also makes it unlikely that a player out west would have time to get to Carolina.

LegomyLeggio 01-20-2004 10:07 AM

The Sabres are in Atlanta for tonight's game........

there would have to be more to it in a big way. rutherford said yesterday that they would deal defense for offense and they are loaded with solid defensemen, markov, hedican, hill, boughner, wesley, ward, wallin. While they have little scoring skill. I could see Rolston and Jillson for O'Neill and Ward or Wallin.

Rutherford had stated that it is not involving the Sens...but it would make a great deal of sense if the newly acquired players will be in the lineup.

Why would the Carolina GM be on Ottawa radio talking about a trade with the Sens...and the Sens GM wouldn't...doesn't make too much sense. But hey...alot of things don't make sense about the NHL these days.

Good point. The Panthers sure could use some defensive help and we have a lot of players on offense to trade. I wish it was us, but very doubtful.

Benji Frank 01-20-2004 10:12 AM

Might as well get Martin Skoula's name thrown into the hat! He played in TB last night!

Skoula & some hotshot young underutilized forward for O'Neill & Boughner is my guess!!!!

What are the odds JB? Similar grumblings are going on in Carolina and Buffalo. One team needs scoring, the other grit/leadership. A player like Miro makes sense...

Isles vs Leafs in Toronto tonight, which isnt that far from Ottawa. I'd like to know if any players werent in practice this morning for either of those teams.

The Canes game is in Raleigh, not Ottawa.

Horrible since I've been stumping for a deal that centers around O'Neill and Satan for a while now. ;)

The Senators are in Carolina. Buffalo and Atlanta is the closest game and the next closest after that is the Habs in Philly.

AgentOrange* 01-20-2004 10:25 AM

Du'oh! I didnt check. I was assuming because of the Ottawa radio the game was in Ottawa.

Don't forget the Panthers and Lightning. Colorado is also in South Florida.

I sort of could see this as well..but if the deal is done and they will be in the lineup tonight?..wouldnt Roslton have sat out with Jilson as well? I think it might be Huml that goes with Jilson...They could be there now at this mornings practice, thats the only way I think they would suit them up...they need at least one practice in with the team before going into a game
