Erat: Injury May Be Serious

According to Rotowire

This situation sounds worse than first thought. Apparently Erat's neck strain is bad enough that coach Barry Trotz is considering injured reserve. With the team already missing Scott Nichol due to a suspension, the move would make sense. It would allow the Preds to recall a forward from Milwaukee of the AHL
Anybody hear different on the news locally?

Erat, who has been sidelined with a strained neck since the final minutes of Monday's loss to Detroit, might rejoin the Predators on Monday at Minnesota.

"He's better but not good enough where he can play," Trotz said. "If everything goes correctly the plan is for him to join us on Monday."

That's good news. I guess in the meantime Dumont will be on the top line?

A quick read of this thread suggests neck strain.

And Dumont already plays on a line with Martin Erat.

IR for hockey does not mean its a big deal, as you can back-date the IR and it is a shorter time requirement than other leagues.

A neck strain is usually no big deal long term....it just means pulled muscles in the neck.....no structural damage.

He'll be out 7-10 days probably, then be back good as new.....almost.
