Primeau, Roenick named to All Star Team

Primeau? Man did Marc Savard get shafted.

Flyers26 01-22-2004 07:13 PM

Congrats to Prims & JR.
Shocked that Prims & his 5 goals are bound for Minn.

There aren't any ballots to be stuffed. I'm pretty sure that makes it worse.

Primeau making it good lord. So incredibly unexpected. He's that good defensively?

Flyers26 01-22-2004 07:25 PM

He's strong defensively & on draws, but an All-Star??

GKJ 01-22-2004 07:28 PM

All those years Rod Brind'Amour was snubbed.......

Dr Love 01-22-2004 07:30 PM

Just watch, Primeau will score two goals and get at least one assist and be named All Star Game MVP, and we'll all look like fools. He'll then go three straight weeks without a goal.

blah 01-22-2004 07:33 PM

I'm just amazed that a league so deadset about adding more offense would add a defensive player to an all-star team. I mean the Flyers have 2 defensemen w/ more points than Prims.

John Flyers Fan 01-22-2004 08:31 PM

My guess is that they went to Hitchcock and said name me the two players on your team for the all-star game.

As much as Primeau gets bashed, he may actually be our most important forward. Not necessarily our best forward, but the one we miss the most if he's out of the line-up.

He's more important than Roenick. So if JR makes it...

BrindA17 01-22-2004 08:58 PM

Keith Primeau? Unbelievable.....

paxtang 01-22-2004 09:01 PM

He's played great for our team....but what exactly is he going to DO there? Forecheck?

Check the western starters? :joker:

Maybe the plan is to watch the big oaf get danced around until he collapses in confusion. :joker:

Hejduk has gotten shafted 2 years in a row in the West. Elias should be there, the all-star game is all about flair and dazzle, guys like Prims and Roberts shouldn't really be there.

blah 01-22-2004 09:11 PM

Honestly, I'm actually going to watch the AS game this year just to see what Prims does.

Rails 01-22-2004 09:30 PM

Interesting Fact

Roenick was less than 100 votes behind Thornton in the voting. If we had all put another vote for him...we'd have a starter.

Joe Thornton (Boston), 51,247; Jeremy Roenick (Philadelphia), 51,168

blah 01-22-2004 09:39 PM

I voted only for Devils. I'd rather the Flyers get the rest.

Brad* 01-22-2004 10:03 PM

Well it's actually refreshing to kow that a player is being rewarded for doing something other than scoring, like playing defensively, but I really don't know that he belongs there.

Oh well, no one watches the game anyway.

Bennevol10 01-22-2004 10:31 PM

Come on guys you gotta admit that Primeau does have some offensive skill... The only reason he is not scoring cause he is playing checking line center role... He produce decent points when he was with Hurricans... Because of Hitch's defense 1st system we will not see single flyers producing more than 75 points this season...

blah 01-22-2004 10:48 PM

He does but he isn't responsible for that aspect anymore. His defense is what got him to the AS game and that has to be shocking. He's more important to the Flyers than Roenick is. I have no problems with him being there and he'll probably go against the West's best line and shut them down.

No I don't. He's not even going to have 20 goals this year unless he gets hot. Primeau used to have some offenseive skill, but now he has none.

Ever hear of Mike Modano and Jere Lethinen? They both had 30 goal seasons under Hitchcock.
