Let's keep the winning streak alive and take another 2 points!

Any word on who is starting in net for us?

Preview from the Associated Press... via NHL.com

Quote:

Jarome Iginla has the Calgary Flames surging again.

Iginla looks to help the Flames extend their winning streak to five games Saturday night when they visit the Los Angeles Kings.

Iginla, who is second in the NHL with 31 goals and among the league leaders with 57 points, has six goals during the Flames' four-game run. He scored twice in a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers on Wednesday and followed that up with two more goals Thursday, including one at 3:26 of overtime to give Calgary a 3-2 victory at San Jose.

The Flames (21-14-7) have seven wins in their last eight road games.

Iginla has been a big part of that success with 11 goals and three assists in the last seven games away from home. Overall, Calgary is 11-1-3 since Dec. 4.

"We definitely have had a good month of December and it's going good again," Iginla said. "As a team we're improving and finding ways to win close games and earlier in the year we weren't finding ways."

Iginla has one goal and eight assists in his last four games against the Kings (15-25-2), including a two-assist performance in a 4-3 victory at home on Oct. 18.

Miikka Kiprusoff, who made 34 saves Thursday, has also been outstanding during the current surge, winning all four games with a 2.22 goals-against average. He has won eight of his last nine starts on the road.

Kiprusoff has three consecutive wins - all at home - against Los Angeles, but has lost his last two starts at Staples Center. He wasn't in net for Calgary's last visit to Los Angeles, a 5-3 win behind two assists from Iginla on Dec. 19, 2006.

The Kings, meanwhile, are looking to rebound from Thursday's 4-3 loss to Columbus which halted their three-game winning streak. They rallied three times from one-goal deficits before Jason LaBarbera allowed the eventual winner with 5:18 to play in the third period.

"Our guys have confidence in their ability to score and they have confidence in their ability to come back," Kings coach Marc Crawford said.

Dustin Brown, who scored Thursday, has four goals in the last three games, giving him a team-high 20. The 23-year-old right wing, who had 17 goals all last season, scored against the Flames on Oct. 18.

The Kings are likely to use LaBarbera in goal Saturday after he took over Thursday for Jean-Sebastien Aubin, who allowed three goals on 12 shots.

LaBarbera is 2-1-0 with a 1.92 GAA in his last three games, with both wins coming in a home-and-home sweep of Chicago.

LaBarbera, 1-1-0 with a 1.26 GAA in three games against Calgary, made 11 saves in 18 minutes of the Kings' last meeting with the Flames after Aubin was pulled for allowing four goals on 18 shots.

Thanks, and same to you guys.

Just because the kings are last in the conference doesn't mean this will be a cakewalk, but if Kipper and Iginla can keep playing the way they have then we have a great shot.

Go flames go!!!

As much as I don't want to I agree with you. The Flames have had a bad habit of playing down to their competition at times. Let's hope that they keep the pedal down and go full throttle tonight.

The Kings have been playing some decent hockey as of late. Should be a good game...

Minus 33 In L.A.

Quote:

When Mike Keenan headed for the dressing room after this morning's skate, he was shaking his head.

"Bad ice. Wow."

Which wasn't the only tidbit the Flames coach shared with the media. Because of D Adrian Aucoin's "lower-body" injury -- yes, that game is already starting -- D Rhett Warrener draws in tonight.

Warrener hasn't played since suffering a high-ankle sprain while trying to hit LW Ryan Smyth in Denver. That was Nov. 24.

"(Warrener) is ready to play," said Keenan. "It's a good thing we have the depth to cover off an injury to Adrian. It's going to be good for (Warrener) because he's been out a long time. He might have to get himself energized to get with the pace of the game right now because ... to miss that many weeks and jump back into it? But he'll be ready -- he's a professional."

Lines:

* Huselius-Conroy-Iginla
* Tanguay-Langkow-Nolan
* Nystrom-Lombardi-Boyd
* Smith-Yelle-Godard

Which means -- maybe -- that LW Wayne Primeau (along with LW Marcus Nilson) will be a healthy scratch again, with Boyd going back to work.

Nice to see Rhett back. Any idea on how long Aucoin will be gone? With out D healthy and gelled, we just might have one of the most physical D.

Lunatik* 01-05-2008 05:00 PM

read on CP that Kipper is starting once again

apetitfor400 01-05-2008 05:39 PM

Hat trick for Iggy, shutout for Kipper!

5-0 Flames

Nice to see Rhettro back, but sad to see Aucoin hurting.

CBCnutcase 01-05-2008 06:12 PM

The CBC should pay attention to the Western Conference standings as the Flames are one of the league's hottest and are very close to the top of the NW division and #2 in the conference unlike the Oilers that are almost rock bottom in the league and conference and are last in the NW division. Overall, the CBC\HNIC should have put this game on as a regional game for southern Alberta.

Phaneufed 01-05-2008 06:14 PM

Go Flames Go!!

BehindEnemyLines 01-05-2008 06:38 PM

Good Luck guys.. Kings have been good of late so hopefully we wont lose by that much to you guys :sarcasm:

apetitfor400 01-05-2008 08:20 PM

What mods? :biglaugh: I haven't seen astrophil for a while and Fugu can't worry about us all the time. Anyways, i'll catch it on FSN:D Honestly, the only way we actually get caught is if someone reports a post.

btw, the crown on the 'C' actually made me laugh.
