My guess- Bergeron

I'm actually looking forward to the Young Stars Game more then the actual All-Star game. Although the talent isn't as good as previous years IMO, I think that it will still be great to watch...

dats-13 01-23-2004 07:48 PM

Thats what I was thinking as well, the talent is definently lacking...

USC Trojans 01-23-2004 07:49 PM

Hemsky.

He was invited last year but was injured. The open system of the Young Stars game will allow him more space to do his dipsy doodles and his seeing-eye passes.

The real problem I have are the goalies. There doesn't seem to be two new good rookie goalies every year and they take whomever they can find. Same thing for defensemen, you have like 3-4 defensemen per team each year.

Raycroft from Boston is available i think.

eSabre 01-23-2004 08:12 PM

Derek Roy is almost a guarantee to be there...

...with no Sabre in the big game, Roy is the best available YoungStar...

Jovavic 01-23-2004 08:23 PM

Ruutu-Zherdev-Hemsky ?

Goalies? They've actually got a decent bunch this year. I suspect Fleury out East, because Raycroft is ineligible I think, and Leighton for the West. Those are two pretty good goalies.

I can also guarantee Derek Roy, Ales Hemsky, and Joffrey Lupul will be there. Their teams have no reps in the big game and they are their teams best Youngstar candidates.

Mack 01-23-2004 08:46 PM

Liles gonna be there?

Murphy* 01-23-2004 09:11 PM

Spezza?

think-blue- 01-23-2004 09:22 PM

Go Stajan!

Teemu 01-23-2004 09:23 PM

hm.....

because of the alternating goalies, i have to wonder, what will happen if leighton is in the AHL at the time of the all-star game?

I'll be looking forward to watching him, he's got some sick moves.

Jason MacIsaac 01-23-2004 09:33 PM

Lets hope Quinn doesn't pick the teams, we will see Nathan Perrott on his way :)

nathan 01-23-2004 10:06 PM

Liles should be there since he is either no.1 or no.2 in rookie dman scoring.

Maybe Aebisher will be going? What is the limit on age for the game?

i think the max is 20....that's just stuck in my head tough i could be way off :dunno:

SlavaKozlov 01-23-2004 10:09 PM

I know Zetterberg was invited last year, but he didn't go...that means he would probably be in it this year. He could tear it up too.

Way off, it's 25 years old.

The biggest thing is that the player has to be on his first pro contract.

ohhh,ok i really didn't know thanks for clarifying

Jason MacIsaac 01-23-2004 10:26 PM

Martin will be there for the East, only Pitkanen has more points then Martin from the east on the blueline.

Big McLargehuge 01-23-2004 10:33 PM

Penguins have about 5 guys deserving...

Money is on Fleury definitely making it.
Koltsov and Malone should.
Orpik won't even get consideration because of the type of game he plays and Surovy just won't get thought of.

Jori 01-23-2004 10:39 PM

Aebischer is on his second pro contract so he is a no go.

Liles has a good chance.
