Serious question about our future
Edge, and other guys looking at 2004 young Dmen....there is a lot of controversy over who will opt in like wes oneill....and we know NYR want/need a big young, komiserak type dman...do you think we can find one this yr...if not what about next year with the potential lockout(there will still be a draft?

this is what i was saying about the jagr trade, we got him without losing kids and potential picks thats why im fine with it..

we just need a dman, who do we want..i know this is early,, but last yr we all wanted phaneuf...whose a komiserak or phaneuf type player that could be had assuming we dont give up picks in the first three rounds?

There's only one top guy, Cam Barker and we are not going to be anywhere near his range.

Actually there's also Mike Green a 6'1'' 195 lbs. defenseman from Saskatoon. Then there's A.J. Thelen a 6'3'' 205 lb. defenseman from Mich. St. if he opts in. You also have the Calgary Hitmen threesome all over 6'4''. Jeff Shultz at 6'5.5'' and 206 lbs. seems to be the most talented one from others.

You also have some talented Euro's in Fransson, Meszaros, Smid, Hedman, Lyamin and an 84 birthdate Lepisto.

You know, the draft isnt only about one top guy from a certain position there's about 8 rounds to go after Cam Barker. Barker could actually be slipping and Green rising.

This years draft is not as deep with talent as last year, but there are some good prospects on Defense in the early rounds. Here are some of them:

Cam Barker - 6'3" 210 lbs - ranked 5th by CSB for NA skaters
Mike Green - 6'1" 200 lbs - ranked 8th by CSB for NA skaters
Jeff Schultz - 6'6" 206 lbs - ranked 11th by CSB for NA skaters
Boris Valabik - 6'6" 221 lbs - ranked 13th by CSB for NA skaters
A.J. Thelan - 6'3" 205 lbs - ranked 16th by CSB for NA skaters

Of the top 20 North American skaters ranked by the Central Scouting, 7 of them are defenseman.
