Old Skills Competition Game
Anyone remember the year they had game where goalies would try to score a goal from their own ends and they had to shoot it over thes huge barriers?

Why did they get rid of that game?

Troy McClure 01-24-2004 04:05 PM

Because it was pretty boring.

I kinda remember it, but I don't think many goalies scored, so that may be the reason? :dunno:

Didnt this happen only once?

SlavaKozlov 01-24-2004 04:26 PM

yeah, I think it was only in the skills comp one year. I also think of all 6 goalies, Dominik Hasek was the only one who scored. Wasn't very exciting...plus each goalie used an illegal curve on their stick because there was no rule on that (IIRC).

The way I remember it, you only had to get it over the wall..

Only one goalie did it.. Brodeur was it?

They quit doing it because the only goalie who got it in was Hasek and everyone knows his stickhandling is horrible. Thus, it really had nothing to do with skill and was based purely on luck. They need to take away that stupid 3-0 crap and reinstate the rapid fire. That was the only thing worth watching.
