As mentioned elsewhere, Yan Stastny has been recalled from Peoria in case Backes and/or Ryan Johnson cannot suit up. Also as mentioned elsewhere, Erik Johnson and David Perron are healthy scratches.

Pulling out the jersey for this one....hopefully it will bring us some luck :)

PS not happy with both EJ and Perron as scratches.

Me neither, I've almost forgotten who we looked forward to watching last year. ;)

General Veers 01-23-2008 09:28 PM

C'mon Backman! Showcase that "talent"!

Stastny is a no-go tonight... :(

General Veers 01-23-2008 09:51 PM

When AM says "We need our best players to be our best players" I take that as "Our veterans need to be our best players". Since that isn't happening, why not bench a vet or 2 and let EJ and Perron play?

Claire 01-23-2008 10:10 PM

Shorthanded already. Gah.

Checker* 01-23-2008 10:12 PM

Tkachuk is our best player...at taking momentum killing penalties.

Stang 01-23-2008 10:17 PM

perron is out there on the ice...he's not scratched

Checker* 01-23-2008 10:17 PM

Good so Perron is playing, just on the 4th line with King and Hinote...sccording to the lineup theat FSN runs (that looks to be wrong though)

Meanwhile Mayers can try to play scorer which kills the best parts of Mayers game and allows him to mishandle the puck and shoot 10 feet wide very very often

General Veers 01-23-2008 10:22 PM

If Stastny got there a little earlier, Perron would be sitting like AM wants.

He's been out for two (2) shifts so far - one with Tkachuk and Stempniak, the other with Tkachuk and Backes. He's out right now with Tkachuk and Backes again.

Oh, the horror!

Oh, the horror!

I didn't realize being a smartass was part of your moderator duties.

I was going by the FSN lineup they ran on the bottom of the broadcast which listed Perron on the 4th line. I even posted that lineup looked to be wrong

I didn't realize that Perron had a clause in his contract that guarantees he gets top-6 duty for every shift of every game. Of course, I didn't react to seeing Perron in the lineup tonight with, "Good so Perron is playing, just on the 4th line with King and Hinote" and then opine about Mayers getting to be a scorer tonight.

I prefer to let things actually unfold, instead of pulling a knee-jerk reaction because Murray didn't/doesn't do what I think he should do.

Checker* 01-23-2008 10:53 PM

I just don't see the point in running a guy whose biggest flaws are apparently his need to get stronger and better defensively out there with King and Hinote as FSN had listed. That doesn't seem to be playing to his strengths in a fairly important game. I just don't see Perron being able to be much of a help right now if he's not on a scoring line.

I prefer to think for myself and be a bit passionate about certain things

General Veers 01-23-2008 10:56 PM

Garth Butcher just said "*******" live on KMOX! :amazed: :biglaugh:

WalterSobchak 01-23-2008 10:58 PM

We know what Perron is good at. This is the season for him to work on and learn what aren't his best attributes.

As long as this isn't Mike Kitchen expecting a player to produce, then putting him on the 3rd or 4th line and him not producing and then Kitchen benching him because he doesn't produce.

General Veers 01-23-2008 11:02 PM

Another softie from Longdongo!

Checker* 01-23-2008 11:03 PM

Luongo does not look good so far...that's a break

Just because we've had a recent losing streak does not mean we should abandon our playoff aspirations just yet

I assume Butcher said something about a hole then?

WalterSobchak 01-23-2008 11:04 PM

Thank GOD Boyes finished that goal no matter how Brewer TRIED to deep six that power play. please please PLEASE keep him off the PP if he must play 5 on 5, fine but I want to cry whenever someone passes to Brewer or, god forbid, he brings it up the ice.

Irish Blues 01-23-2008 11:08 PM
