2004 and 2005 drafts

The 2001 and 2003 drafts where said to be deep drafts........ how will the 2004 and 2005 drafts look like according to what you have read?

J-D 01-28-2004 01:00 AM

It looks like the 2004 draft is top-heavy but isn't too deep.

I`m far from on expert on the subject but I`d agree with J-D. It looks similar to the 2002 draft. There dosn`t seem to be much outside the top 10.

If you were to ask this on the prospect board you`d probably get some more indepth responses.

.......... and this was already done! ;-)

By the way guys, Andrei Kasthitsin brother will be available in 2005 and is projected to be a first rounder.

There's good picks in every draft, in every round, Savard and Timmins just need to find them. Overall it does seem to have a solid top 10, but to compare it to last year is just unfair.

I can't wait for the draft, it's my favorite time of the year! I've been trying to watch more '04 prospects lately, to get ready for the summer. :yo:

Yes. Siharei Kostytsin. Daniel Ryder, Michael's younger brother will also be available.

Yeah...that wasn`t my point though. Theres a drop in talent after the first 5-10 guys. That dosn`t mean you won`t come outta the draft with a great prospect. (example: Havlat) But your chances become very slim.

Yes! we`ll draft those 2, trade for Marian Hossa and Mikko Koivu and we`ve got a dynasty on our hands. :joker: :D

To say right now. There's a lot to consider. Wes O'Neil, Drew Strafford, Pineault, AJ Thelan (sp?) all four could opt out, and all four should be 1st round picks. That's a lot of talent, considering O'Neil and Strafford could be top 10 or 15. We'll see as time goes by how it shapes up.

I think later 1st rounders like Bickell, Picard, Bolland, Pock (I assume he's a 1st rounder, havent' seen him yet) but I think there's a lot of good picks in the 1st round, and should be better then '02, but time will tell.

On the Prospects Board one poster mentioned that there is a drop off after the first 15 this year, but then there isn't a drop off for a while. That implies some depth well into the first few rounds that give drafting vets like AS and TT the opportunity to find some gems in the rough. As montreal states, it is just unfair to compare to the 2003 draft that was so deep and was one of the best...only time will tell just how deep.

2004 is an average draft with some very good players.

2005 looks amazing so far in Canada. It could be an great draft with both top talents and depth.
