Tendonitis in the ankle
I recently got tendonitis in the ankle and was wondering if anyone has a good solution or part time remedies that will make it less painful. At first I thought it was just lace bite then I went to the doctor and they told me it was tendonitis and I could get a cortizone shot, I was wondering if there way anything else I could do.

When I skate now I just put a thick gauze inbetween my tounge of the skate and my instep area towards my ankle, it helps but does not relieve all pain.

Thanks for whatever help I can get.

I went the cortizone route once, and had a really bad reaction to it. Since it suppresses the immune responce, it can potentially wreak havok on your immune system. I caught the Flu almost the next day, which I'm sure was probably unrelated, but my body couldn't fight it off and it literally almost killed me. Granted, this was an extremely severe reaction, not typical, but it scared me off of cortizone forever. Cortizone is also only a tempoary measure.

I have somewhat bad tendonitis in both knees, which makes hockey very painful sometimes. It typically flares up just after I finish playing. Occasionally, when it gets really bad, I rub some Arnica Gel on my knees, which does seem to help a little bit. Ice is also a good idea.

You have to rest it. Take a couple of weeks off of hockey. Hot /cold treatments have worked for me in the past.

I am coming to the end of my season soon and then I will give it rest then after. Hopefully it will come around to feeling like it was before it happened.

ADVIL!!! very good at reducing any kind of swelling and inflamation. most people dont know this but its VERY GOOD for sun burn as well.

tape something soft around the bump to ease the pressure, that should do the trick,
i use corn pads which i stick around the bump.

I was having ankle problems...until I started lacing up my skates to the top eyehole. Having it tied loose would aggravate my ankle greatly. Not sure if this pertains to your situation, but I was amazed at how simple the solution was for mine.

I had this when I played football and I would Have the trainer tape my ankles Tight and then train in running shoes not me cletes. Try having you ankles taped

the only advice I could give you is to never take medical advice on internet. Juste go see a doctor or a health specialist that will see your case and give you some good advices!

rest and ice are the only way really.

you can see a physical thearpist also that might help with some specific exercises. Even better might be a pediatrist that works in a running shoe store? they might be able to help with the skate fitting.
