Brock Trotter Signs with Habs

http://gdrinnan.blogspot.com/2008/02...r-on-move.html

"C Brock Trotter has signed with the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and is expected to report to the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs this week. A source has told me that Trotter signed with the Canadiens today. . . . Trotter, 20, had been with the Denver University Pioneers. He was their leading scorer before not playing in two games last weekend. . . . His WHL rights belonged to the Kelowna Rockets."

He was the leading scorer with the Denver Pioneers in the WCHA. Read here about the speculation about why he's leaving the team:

http://blogs.denverpost.com/sports/c...mike-chambers/

Any word in Montreal? The U.S. college hockey world is watching this closely, because he's among the better players in the WCHA.

"The University of Denver hockey team will wait at least another day before revealing if leading scorer Brock Trotter will remain on the team.

Trotter missed last weekend’s series at Minnesota State for undisclosed reasons and did not practice Monday. Before Tuesday’s practice, Pioneers coach George Gwozdecky said Trotter would not participate.

Trotter, a redshirt sophomore, leads the team with 13 goals, 18 assists and 31 points. He has 76 points in 69 career games."

McKeen's Hockey Prospects

11/22/2006 - Was averaging a point a game before being lost for the season last year which also lead him to going un-drafted .. an offensive player who finds the quiet space on the ice and can sneak behind the opposition and has good offensive instincts to burry his chances .. is an above average finisher in tight with some crafty moves .. has a heavy, accurate slap shot that he isn't hesitant to use .. has soft hands and some imaginative with the puck .. accelerates quickly but his top end speed is lacking .. fairly good lateral quickness .. there is doubt that he can translate as an offensive player in the NHL.

According to the U of Denver site he is 5'10" 185.

He could easily fill out to 5'10" 195 lbs, similar to Pleks. I guess his size during the draft was 5'9" 165, but he's obviously filled out.

Trotter has pretty impressive numbers for 20 year old. He lead his team in points for the second year in a row in front of guys like Ruegsegger and Rakhshani. Both played on the first line 1 month ago at U20 with Okposo. :yo:
