Edmonton/Vancouver Proposal

To Edmonton: Fedor Fedorov
To Vancouver: Jani Rita

Both are on their last chances in their respective organizations. Both have immense skill, both seem to have a lack of effort problem.

Could it work?

I actually thought about that a couple days ago, but Fedorov's a bum. Rita's a bum. So a bum for a bum. Sounds like a gay porn.

Wow, i don't think Jani Rita is at his last chance yet, i always thought that the Oilers are just being patient with him. i think Rita worth more than Fedor trade wise.

I agree. Rita hasn't done much but, at the very least, he projects as a third line checker. He is a higher level prospect than Federov (from what I understand about Federov).

If either Lowe or Burke is going to pull off a trade like this (struggling young player with skill for another) it won't be with eachother. The risk is too big...for both sides.

No way. Fedorov's worthless compared to Rita. While Rita is developing slower than expected, he's certainly not valueless.

Hang on, Oiler fans. Be patient with Rita. He'll come around.

don't worry oilers fans are being patient (well at least i am i know that much)

Rita never got a real chance with MacT, but last season he score 3 goals in 12 games on the 4th line playing about 6-10 mins a game.

Rita has a two-way contract and his contract is up after this year, its because of that two-way contract that Rita never got a chance i believe (damn numbers game)

if u want other oilers fans opioion on Rita there's a big thread on the oilers board

The diference between Fedorov and Rita lies in the fact that Rita actually has some value.

Oh yeah. Burke would kill himself if Fedorov became a superstar as an Oiler, and visa-versa Lowe.

Burke has said he isn't going to trade Umberger, so what I'm saying is probably moot, nevermind that it would be EDM and VAN trading, but I could see EDM being interested in Umberger, among a bunch of teams.

VAN fans, what's the update there?

Burke has said he won't trade him (I think, right?), but he might be a useful chip at the deadline, perhaps worth more than the 2nd rounder they'd get as comp. I suppose if I'm Umberger, and I'm this close to being a UFA, I guess there isn't much incentive to sign now unless someone wants to pay you well? Where has he been playing this year, if anywhere?

any thoughts?

Unless a team overpays, Burke will likely hang onto Umberger. As for what Umberger's been doing, probably sitting on his ass.

Indeed. Unless someone blows away Burke, Umberger will sit until he either comes to his senses and realizes he's not worth almost $1 M per or enters free agency. Burke told Umberger that if RJ wanted to go down this road, he'd be going to free agency. RJ went down the road, so Burke's letting him sit.
