Will These Work as Goalie Pants?

Ok, so after being fed up with wearing the Size Large "loaner" goalie pants from the rink that I play roller-hockey at, I finally took the initiative to go out and get some pants of my own. Now, I'm out of work right now, so I don't have $200-$300 to go spending on top of the line goalie pants, so I went out to a sporting goods store today and got this pair of Rbk 5K regular skater pants:

Now, the level of play in my roller hockey league isn't that high. I mean, don't get me wrong, there's some good players, but none of the guys in the league ever played college, high school, or even any form of organized hockey. And the division I play in is a Beginnger-Intermediate division, so it's not like I'm facing NHL-speed shots and I'm not having an ice hockey puck shot at me. Should those pants be sufficient enough for roller hockey?

You should be fine, i was able to use regular skater pants for goalie for years in roller hockey and never had a problem. Just be prepared that once in a while you might get a stinger in the areas without pads.

You might be ok...but you'll eventually want to get some goal pants, especially if it's roller with a puck. But you really don't need a huge budget to get some goal pants. You can get some 5K goal pants for like $10 than normal pants on closeout. Here's an example: http://www.goaliemonkey.com/rbk-goalie-pants-5ksrd.html

I have those and play ice. They are great for the price. Get some suspenders though. Goalie pants don't stay in place well. (at least for me they didn't)

i played net in a mens floor hockey league with no hockey pants at all, just track pants. if it's not a puck then you have nothing to worry about.

i just want to add, i played with a puck and that's where the stingers came from but, well never anything more than a stinger.

My friend tried exactly what you did. Took one of those red roller hockey pucks right to the inside of the thigh when he was in the butterfly.

He went to the Sports Junkies used store the next day to buy goalie pants.
