David Rundblad/Tim Erixon/Henrik Björklund

Both Rundblad and Erixon recently played in an Elitserien game, does anyone have any info on how they played, how they are doing. What do you guys think of them?

Thank you.

Predatore 03-13-2008 04:52 PM

Both are potential first rounders.

Both are offensively skilled.

Both have excellent hockey sense, passing ability, puck moving ability.

Both could end up playing for Sweden in the U18 WJC (one year older Rundblad is a lock, Erixon a hot candidate to make the team).

so what you really want to say is that they are twins, but one is just born a year earlier? :D

Thanks, Predator.

Do you know anything about Emil Satterman, he plays for Farjestad. Any info on him would be appreciated.

I've seen David Rundblad & Tim Erixon many times, and I agree with comments above, they're both offensively skilled. But I still wouldnt say their respective style of play is similar or twin-like.

They're both really good skaters, and good at puck handling. They're also good at carrying the puck over distance, but for sure Rundblad more so of the two. Actually solo raids from own zone alll the way to offensive zone is something of Rundblad's trademark and he's really good at it. Every game I've seen him, he's done 3-4 of these solo raids, sometimes firing shot at goal himself, sometimes just moving the play into offensive zone, establishing pressure, his teammates entering the zone after him. Erixon is more of a playmaker, great vision and great hands. They both score a lot of points in powerplay, but while a lot of Rundblad's points are often related to his solo raids(also in PP), Erixon is more of the classical powerplay pointman, however I'd say Rundblad has slightly better shot of the two. Erixon on the other hand may have slight advantage in defensive play, stealing pucks/steering forwards to the boards.

In their J20 team, Rundblad & Erixon almost never play in the same line, and very seldom the same PP formation. The reason of course being they both play the offensive d-man role. I wouldnt say the're bad at defensive play, they've after all been coached by one of the best defensive NHL forwards (Tim's dad, ex-Ranger Jan Erixon). However none of them are the big bad d-man that keeps clean in front of own net in BP.

Rundblad has signed a three-year contract with Skelleftea AIK, in the swedish elite leage, SEL. So has Martin Lundberg, forward, also born 1990. Both played for Team Sweden in the recent U18-JWC. Rundblad is not eligible for the 2008 draft, however Lundberg is.

Also, there's rumours going around (blog at www.hockeymagasinet.com) saying that Tim Erixon is headed towards the CHL for the next season. Uncertain sources though.

Tim Erixon has commented this rumour today and he says the rumour is completely false. He will play in Sweden next year.

David Rundblad has been magic in the first two pre-season games with Skelleftea senior team against SEL teams Lulea & Modo. 1 goal and 3 assists. He will for sure play in the SEL league the whole season.

As many people has already stated, one of Rundblad's qualities is strong skating and playmaking skills. This videoclip shows a typical Rundblad (#7) action, where he moves the puck into offensive zone, and sets up team mates for a goal. The swedish headline of the youtube clip is erronous, it says that Rundblad scores. The actual goal is scored by Martin Lundberg, an 1990 born forward that along with Rundblad has been moved from the junior team to the senior SEL squad.

/Edit. Ok now the issuer of the youtube clip has corrected the headline.

Wow, that was a really nice goal... who's the forward that Rundblad dropped to -- the forward that does the spin-o-rama pass?

Update

Both Erixon & Rundblad are now registered with ht/wt: 6.02/190. Exactly the same figures is bit funny but they were both a bit below those figures last season so I guess they're correct.

Some clips on Tim Erixon (#4) from Skelleftea pre-season games.

On the first one he picks the puck up in neutral zone skates around his keeper and all the way up to offensive zone, firing a shot that is saved by the keeper, but in the following moment a team mate scores.

In the second clip Erixon appears from 0.14 in the clip. He starts an attack from own zone, passes the puck to a team mate, skates along the board and gets the puck back just before the blue line and finally he shoots from a narrow angle, scoring.

Rundblad looks a bit scrawnier than Erixon IMO. But could just be different body types...

Rundblad was ranked 14th in Seidels recent blog for The Hockey News.

An NHL scout from Dallas was on site in Skellefea this weekend to check out David Rundblad & Tim Erixon. According to the local newspaper Hrdina was impressed with them both. On saturday he could watch Rundblad having 15 minutes TOI in a SEL game and on sunday he could watch both Rundblad/Erixon in a J20 game, in which Rundblad stacked up 1 goal and 3 assists and Erixon 1 assist.
"He's so offensive. I thought he was defensive player." -Hrdina on Rundblad

Rediscoveryx 11-30-2008 10:40 AM

Tim had problems in the beginning of the season but he has really taken his game to a new level in the last couple of weeks. Last night he had an assist and had 24 minutes TOI as Skellefteå beat Södertälje.

Tim has got excellent vision and he is for sure going to be a great -d-man on the PP. I would be very surprised if he isn't ranked in the top 25 in the next ISS ranking.

Rundblad had a brilliant start to the season but has dropped a bit in the last few games. He's much better defensively now than a couple of months ago, but his offensive game hasn't been as good as expected.

Rundblad and Erixon played with Skelleftea j20 today in the 7-1 win against Lulea.
Rundblad got 2 goals (both coast to coast) and 2 assists and Erixon got 5 assists

Haha :) That is sick :P

...and let's remember that they're d-men...:yo:

Guss 12-11-2008 04:06 AM

I really think Rundblad could give Thegel a run for his money to be the top scorer in Superelit if he didn`t play SEL.

9 points in 4 games that`s pretty good for a defenceman

Gotta love these guys, I'm so happy that they are on my team. :handclap:

romelson 12-11-2008 02:51 PM

Great SEL-game for Rundblad tonight. Spent 18 minutes on ice and had two nice assists.
