On this day 52 years ago...

Today is St. Patrick's Day, and I'm sure most of you Habs fans remember what happened on March 17th 52 years ago.

If it is what I think it is, didn't it happened in 1955? Anyway, I wasn't born at that time and I've only heard about it.

52 years ago today, people in montreal got drunk celebrating St. Patty's day, and then they turned to each other and said.... "Remember last year when everyone was rioting in the streets for the Rocket."

snakeye 03-17-2008 01:10 AM

Sure I remember; my parents weren't even born, but I remember ;)

HabsHockey 03-17-2008 01:11 AM

I was 9 months old but very precocious. I was training to be a hf poster because I was calling open line shows and demanding they trade The Rocket to Chicago so they could bring up that kid from the Royals, who in fact went on to a succesful shelf stocking career at the Rockland shopping Centre Steinberg's franchise. If only they gave the kid a chance......

i made a thread about 3 days ago on the night of the fight.

It was 53 years ago.

Al Bundy* 03-17-2008 02:54 PM

I was referring to the Richard Riot.

What are your thoughts on that?

Everyone knows that. But it was 53 years ago, not 52.

A local player punched out a ref, got suspended, and it started the seperatist movement. :sarcasm:
