OT - Trevor Linden

Looks like we've seen the last of Trevor. :(

He, along with Pavel Bure, were the only Canuck players I ever liked.

Great player. Great career.

Thanks Trevor. :yo:

He didn't spend much time in Montreal, nor was it a very successful time, but I was thrilled when we landed him.

The stuff that happened tonight.. the entire late game was just incredible. The emotion of Linden and the emotion of Iginla's 50th.. it was an incredible, amazing moment.

I wish I recorded it.

Very classy move by the Flames players who shook his hand.

Trevor is an icon in this city, you cant even imagine.

His community work is unparalelled. His production took a beating after his knee surgery in 1996 but he was an ironman before that and I would have a spot for him on my team anyday if I needed to go into a game 7 war.

it truly looks like the end, but I just want to congratulate him on playing the game hard but honest, and making himself a true role model for kids to look up to.

way to go trev :handclap:

I hate him for his dreadful time in Montreal, but growing up around nothing but Canuck fans I can recognize how good he was before that ill-fated trip to Montreal and how much the city adored him.

'Hating' good players who play on dreadful teams (like the Habs for the last 15 years) is something I'll never understand. Linden had some injury problems but it was obvious the supporting cast at the time wasn't up to par. Maybe your hate could have been better directed toward the Molson's B of D, who refused to spend the extra dollars required to keep the team competitive in that era. Or Corey, who decided to let the team rest on it's laurels and hire cronies, rather than making sure the team's front office staff was staffed with intelligent, experienced front office staff who could make hard, management level decisions. Because a team is bad is no reason to run down a player. Unfortunately the story will continue.

I'm kind of glad the flames clinched and the canucks couldn't make the playoffs because that was the main reason how the game was so great and classy
