This one is sooooo made up.

Me thinks that he read Hickey's article and then pulled the rest from his ass.

Malakhov 05-06-2008 08:17 PM

Let's just say that if another team offers Streit a 5 millions per season contract, then let him go, jesus christ.

DirtyJeeves 05-06-2008 08:19 PM

Impossible to even assign an (e*) considering they can't discuss anything with him or his agent yet.

Exactly. If anyone was guessing his sources before, I think we've found them now.

We're due for a UFA signing.

Eklund's thought process: "Team a could use player x. Air go, player x to team a, e3."

And, yes, spelling ergo like that was a shot at the professionalism of the site.

Adam91 05-06-2008 11:53 PM

He also had Doug Weight to STL as an (e3) the other day, funny thing is Weight left on bad terms with the entire organization

Tuggy 05-07-2008 06:08 AM

I had forgotten all about Eklund, damn.

Russeltown 05-07-2008 06:55 AM

Wait until he writes down Hossa to MTL (e4).....

:scared:

Everybody will believe him, including myself

Judge Sauer* 05-07-2008 06:59 AM

We need that puking :scared: for Eklund

I guess Eklund and I are the only two people who think Streit won't be returning. Btw this actually proves Eklund is full of crap, he chooses 3 teams, two of which are the most obvious teams for overpayment in the NHL, honestly I doubt Montreal re-signs streit for the amount of $ he will want unless he takes a pay cut to be here.

I doubt he will though. I don't see why we would re-sign him, he performed horribly in the playoffs causing turnovers in the offensive zone by practically shooting the puck directly into the guy infront of hims skates ON PURPOSE hahahah.(obviously not on purpose but come on, how many times did he do it? as many times as Markov made defensive zone turn overs? Just about I'd say)

No way in hell we should sign this guy, he'll want 4-5m cause thats what other teams are going to be willing to overpay to get him. I say, let them take him a la Souray.

Same, looks like it could be a long summer.

Puckhead58* 05-07-2008 08:22 AM

Eklund and his made up rumors!!! Why is this guy allowed to post on HFBoards....he is never right and everything he says is made up.

I want Streit back with the Habs next year, but I don't think we should give him anymore than a 2 year/$2 million deal. He had one good offensive season and he isn't that great of a defencemen. If he wants more money than that....let him go somewhere else to get it.

I've said numerous times that I don't think Streit will be back and it's not so much that we don't want to sign, it's that he won't want to sign here. A couple of reasons:

1) He has stated several times that he wants and prefers to play defense and not forward. There is no way that Gainey is going to guarantee him a full time job on the blueline for next season (and rightfully so because he is terrible at playing defenseman in regular situations).

2) He will undoubtedly be offered more money some where else. I see Gainey offereing him a small raise but someone is sure to offer him more.

All that being said, I don't really care if he is back or not. He scored a lot of points this season but so did Souray playing with Markov on the point on the PP. He is terribly soft so he's no good playing defense and is an average defensive forward. If he decides to stay and accept being a PP specialist and 4th liner then fine but if he decides to go elsewhere then he can be replaced.

GoHabsGO252006 05-07-2008 08:27 AM

Does he even watch hockey? He ranks Streit in the same neighborhood as Brian Campbell. What a great scoring D-man he is? He played forward for a significant majority of the season. He played point on the PP a PP which gave him points, no in which he created them.

If someone is willing to give him more than 2.5M I would let him walk, he is a valuable at 600k, but 5M? More than Saku? More than Kovy? I would let him walk and laugh about it cause whatever idiot team signs him for that is signing a special teams player and below average D-man and a bottom line forward for way too much money.
