#1 FA poll

Who is or #1 UFA target this year.

BrooklynRangersFan 05-23-2008 04:56 PM

I like this thread. You should run it like the prospect rankings threads. :)

Inferno 05-23-2008 04:57 PM

Other, Wade Redden would be my target.

beastly115 05-23-2008 05:10 PM

I voted for Orpik. I miss seeing our d-men level guys coming across the middle.

Trxjw 05-23-2008 05:50 PM

Voted Orpik as well, but I'd settle for any big defenseman. Suter would be a phenomenal pickup. I don't think any UFA would have as much impact as a physical defenseman would.

eco's bones 05-23-2008 06:32 PM

1. Jagr
2. Avery

After that we'll see.

FLYLine24* 05-23-2008 06:35 PM

JM Liles

Won't be much to get him since he had a off year, and finally a PP QB.

Orpik next..i'd be very happy if we signed those two.

Plato 05-23-2008 07:23 PM

Liles now.

My next three would be Ryder, Orpik and Redden in that order.

Also add more guys to the poll next time around like Liles, Huselius etc.

Lundqvist=Vezina 05-23-2008 09:58 PM

If we could get Rolston at like 4-5 mil for 1 or 2 years that would be great. Fills a wing role that we need and can also play the PP QB with his rocket shot.

Celestial Black 05-23-2008 11:27 PM

Hopefully Orpik.

HatTrick Swayze 05-23-2008 11:47 PM

I voted Rolston, but Orpik is certainly up there as well.

z1co80 05-24-2008 12:34 AM

i went with Orpik but i really hope we dont overpay anyone

Ranger35 05-24-2008 12:42 AM

For me it depends on whether it's a sure thing that Jagr is coming back or not. If Jagr's back, Orpik, if not, Hossa.

Agreed, but even if Jags leaves, we still need a strong d-man.

We also really need to re-sign Avery.

BlairBettsBlocks 05-24-2008 09:00 AM

if jagr retires, hossa
if not, a defenseman would be the prime target
with the cap going up again, it might seem easy to spend big bucks, but i dont think they should go that route this year
there are some under the radar signings that could become important parts of teams
montador or vandermeer?

Vitto79 05-24-2008 11:23 AM

FA's

This FA crew blows bad

I say resign Jagr and Avery and let the rest of the UFA's walk

time to let some younger players get in.......also send Hollweg somewhere for a pick

I would go for Redden, Orpik , Rolston...........then the rest of the spots go to Rooks and guys already undercontract

with 20 million i still think this is feasible

Jagr at 4 million with Bonuses that dont count under the cap of a few million

Avery at 3 million

Redden at 5 million

Rolston at 4 million

Orpik at 3 million

That is alot of dough I know so I hope they can fit it in

May not be possible so may have to dump Prucha, Backman in a deal to shed some salary

so in a perfect world I see it as(and we all know this is fantasy land)

Avery, Dubinsky, Jagr
Dawes, Gomez, Rolston
Prucha, Drury, Callahan
Sjostrom, Betts, Moore, Byers , Orr

Staal, Redden
Tyutin , Girardi
Backman, Orpik
Pock

Lundqvist
Valliquette

I really like that lineup actually. However, theres no way we get Huselius for 2.5, and no way Buffalo is going to take back more salary than they're giving away.
