MTL-MIN proposal

Gaborik, M. Koivu

for

Price

I'm just curious to see what neutral fans think of the value exchanged, I don't want to start a Trade/Don't trade Price flame war

Oh, you'll start a flame war alright...just don't expect it to be about whether or not Price should be traded

chaosrevolver 05-24-2008 05:35 PM

I don't think Minnesota touches this. Harding is their future goaltending prospect and they are good with Backstrom right now I believe. Atleast that was the status a couple months ago. Trading away two bigtime offensive players too have 2 young and very promising goaltenders isnt near worth it.

I dont think the value is there either. Gaborik and Koivu are pretty young players themselves. Price is younger, but I dont think he has the same value as those two do together.

Cardiac_Canes 05-24-2008 05:37 PM

There is absolutely no reason for Minnesota to do this so regardless of whether or not the value is even (and it isn't) this is pointless.

flannelman 05-24-2008 05:51 PM

serious?

ugh.

Trxjw 05-24-2008 06:34 PM

Maybe Minn should throw in Harding just to even things out.

:sarcasm:

Awful. Just awful.

JeffYear92* 05-24-2008 06:37 PM

that was just bad
wow
is that a joke
come on now

be serious Now

Price isnt going anywhere

You're just trying to start a row...no way either team can make that deal.

But just wondering to Wild fans any chance Gaborik gets moved this summer?

CM Lundqvist 05-24-2008 08:01 PM

A disgusting display of homerism from the Montreal fan.

backs4mvp 05-24-2008 08:04 PM

Price would be the backup in Minny... and Minny would give up their top offensive players? :help:

you confused price with toskala.

Blackhawkswincup 05-24-2008 08:11 PM

Value isn't even!

To even up the value the Habs would have to send Komisarek with him.

I don't think he did. Are you saying Price would be a starter in Minny (let alone backup)?

State of Hockey 05-24-2008 08:30 PM

Wow, that's a horrid proposal. Sure, Minnesota sends their superstar and "franchise" player for a top goalie prospect. How about Harding and Burns to Montreal as well to help even it up?:sarcasm:

I did . And I just do it again now. Price would be a starter in Minny!

Laus723 05-24-2008 09:01 PM

Regardless of whether or not Price starts in Minny, there's no way the get Gaborik alone for him much less Koivu.

Minnesota doesn't need Price enough to send guys like Gaborik AND Koivu, so therefore, the value isn't there.

:biglaugh:You really do live under a rock if you think Price would be the clear cut #1 over Backstrom.

Horrible proposal by the way

Mervillian 05-24-2008 10:06 PM

So minny would have 3 potential starting goalies....and less offense than vancouver

Not that price would be moved, but wouldn't it make sense to at least involve backstrom or harding in the proposed.

As for value.....brutally overrating price.

Circulartheory 05-24-2008 10:08 PM

Harding is the man! I'm hoping he'll be just as good in the future, but still, our two franchise player for a goalie we DON'T need....

hototogisu 05-24-2008 10:14 PM

Minnesota is probably the last team that would have any use for Price. It would be like Pittsburgh trying to add a first-line center by giving up Fleury and Malone.

leova 05-24-2008 11:29 PM

...if this would happen, who would MTL have in goal? Halak? some random AHLer? spend big bucks on a UFA goalie?

i dont think so...not to mention that just because he's "a Koivu", doesnt make Mikko as good as "the Koivu".

Gaborik would be a great fit there, but no way MTL moves Price without a ready replacement

Patrick96 05-24-2008 11:35 PM

No. Worthless deal.

Mikko Koivu is just as good as Saku. He brings his A game every night, and I guarantee that he'll put up the same point totals as his brother does in Montreal's system.

And because Mikko Koivu is so good, this trade proposal is just ridiculous.

Agreed, plus he is younger and on a defensive team.

Chainsaw 05-25-2008 04:46 AM

Does Price get to bring his new Glove?
