Good news.

Shows we are deep in prospects from the top tier to the second tier as well. Desjardins looks to be the man in Hamilton next year with Halak in Montreal (or elsewhere) and Danis more than likely looking for opportunities elsewhere NHL or Europe (lets hope he doesn't leave and become a Dan Ellis - his old teammate that he out played in Hamilton, but nows is many steps behind).

Any others moving up to Hamilton? With Chipper more than likely a fulltimer next year and maybe Valentanko, Carle and maybe even Maxwell getting a cup of coffee or two in the NHL it looks like players will be needed to go along with the White's and so on.

Great to have depth...now lets get some "Star" depth!

Olivier Latendresse and Mathieu Aubin maybe?

Last year: Calder Cup
This year: Kelly Cup
Next year: Stanley Cup

Desharnais will be with dogs next year! Mark my words now!!

Congrats to Cincy on their great season. Nice to see Desjardins get the MVP. He started to look better at the end of the season in Hamilton, perhaps that helped his confidence going into the playoffs for Cincy.

As for who moves up, it depends on who is back next year for Hamilton. With Maxwell, White and Wyman as rookies and Trotter playing his first full season, I don't think there will be too many forward spots unless most of the vets aren't back and guys like Locke/Milroy leave like Ferland did.

I hope to see Aubin move up full time, don't want to see him spend his 3rd pro year in the ECHL. Desharnais should get a long look after the year he had, wasn't too impressive in his few AHL games imo. Beauregard and Lats will need to have a good camp to make the team unless Hamilton wants to go with almost all rookies which I don't see happening.

For Desjardins, he's getting some nice hardware, a Memorial Cup, now a Kelly Cup and MVP honors.

Thanks for the pics Cinbin!! :handclap:

A couple of notes I thought were interesting.

-12,722 people in attendance for the final.....what a great crowd!

-Desharnais finished with 11 more points then anybody in the playoffs (33 to 22 for the second guy) :yo: Also..the second leading scorer on the Cyclones only had 19 points (Olivier Latendresse) Pretty dominating performance by Desharnais..

-Desjardins finished with a 1.84 GAA and a .939 SV PCT.

Very nice result from one of our minor league teams!!

I don't think any of them will be making the jump to the NHL next year unless trades or injuries occur, except for Chipper depending on his speed.

Desharnais on CKAC in two minutes, at 3:30pm, with Villeneuve.

I didn't say they would be fulltimers, I said a cup of coffee.

I went to game 5 in Las Vegas and I was surprised at how bad ECHL hockey is. One thing that stood out to me by 5 minutes into the game is that Desharnais was by far the best player on the ice and nobody even came close. Not only was he 10x more skilled than anyone on the ice, but you could just see that he was also 10x smarter. He needs to work on his acceleration and skating to go far being so small, but he reminded me of a poor man's Martin St. Louis. Definitely not afraid to go to the net and get his nose dirty.

I really liked him in training camp last year. I don't care if he's 4"6'. He plays with lots of heart and he's capable of scoring too. I wish him luck and I also think he will play in the AHL next season..

redmachine54 06-07-2008 10:08 AM

I would honestly not mind seeing Desjardins on the Bulldogs next season, especially if Danis pursues a change in scenery.

Desjardins should be penciled in as the backup in Hamilton next year regardless of what Danis does. I would think he'll get a contract this summer since he's been on an ahl contract the past 2 years. Now Gainey just needs to find a good starter for the Dogs.
