Yann Danis to test free agency

Young goalie Yann Danis has decided to quit the Montreal Canadiens organisation and try his luck elsewhere. Personnaly I always liked him and whishes him to find a good back-up position somewhere...

It's the most logical decision for him. I wish him good luck, he seems like a great guy.

Blades 0f Steel 06-13-2008 10:30 AM

I think he'll make a solid backup in the NHL. Hope he gets his chance!

Habitants 06-13-2008 10:53 AM

too bad, but there was just no room here for him i guess. he served us well. thx Yan, and best of luck to you! im sure he will find a job in the NHL!

beowulf 06-13-2008 11:12 AM

Pretty much expected, good luck Yann.

Phil Parent 06-13-2008 11:13 AM

He was a good third wheel, I say.

Sined 06-13-2008 11:30 AM

GL to him. I can't say I wouldn't do the same if I were him.

Ice Poutine 06-13-2008 12:10 PM

meh...

Please shut the door on your way out Yann.

GoneAway 06-13-2008 12:20 PM

Cant blame a pro athelete for wanting to play

Funny thing...on NHL 2008 dynasty mode, Danis just asked me to trade him

montreal 06-13-2008 12:32 PM

I said in a thread the other day that I thought the Habs would move on, but it also makes a lot of sense for Danis to move on, as he has really struggled in Hamilton the last 2 years, plus the sting of losing his starting job to Halak, then getting it back then losing it in the playoffs to a 19 year old Price, then losing it again to Halak this year.

I wish him the best, people I've talked in Hamilton have had nothing but great things to say about him off the ice.

Blind Gardien 06-13-2008 01:00 PM

Well, I'm not sure if it's the best timing for him to look for work elsewhere, given he didn't necessarily have a strong season and given that there might actually be a fair bit of work available in Hamilton.

There isn't much sense of how mutual the decision to move on might have been, though. I could readily imagine the Habs not necessarily being keen to make that work in Hamilton available to him. But I can't think he'll have an easy time finding other work. Though I certainly hope for the best for him.

Puckhead58* 06-13-2008 01:01 PM

I don't blame the guy one bit!!! He got the run around for long enough. He should have been in the NHL as a backup after he recorded a 2-0 shutout against the Thrashers in his first career start.

I hope he finds a place to play on a regular basis. He is a good goalie.

Stiffler 06-13-2008 01:05 PM

Makes perfect sense for both the habs and Danis... Now let's get a veteran goaltender for Hamilton next year.

Magic33 06-13-2008 02:02 PM

good luck yann, but um, do we have any goalies left other then price halak and desjardins?

Metropolitsky 06-13-2008 02:17 PM

Good luck to him

Lacasse?

zurg999 06-13-2008 02:18 PM

From my vantage point, I'll miss Yann's great head of hair and his choice in baseball caps this upcoming season.

anarmandaleb 06-13-2008 02:20 PM

Makes sense. He and the Habs don't have much to offer each other in the future, so this is the right thing to do.
I've heard he's a great guy, he's a great third string, and he's a total cutie, so I wish him the best.

YMCMBeaulieu 06-13-2008 02:24 PM

Too bad, he looked like he was going to be a future #1 goalie just a couple years ago. Wish the best of luck to him, hopefully he can be like a Dan Ellis and succeed somewhere else.

What's the deal with Loverock? He was at the development camp last year... I think he's with Niagara in the CHL.

I believe Loverock has regressed this year. He was far from impressive though he never was. I kinda liked what I've seen from him at the dev. camp but not enough to be remembered.

There's other overagers out there that should be looked at that would be better than the Loverock and the Lacasse of this world.

How about Blanchard, Engelage, Murphy or even Yonkman though I'm not his greatest fan.

Team_Spirit 06-13-2008 03:05 PM

I remeber his 1st NHL start he was very good. He stoned Kovalchuk once or twice in that game. Good luck to him.

Now Hamilton are in trouble they need a good goalie for next season. I think Bob will have to find a veteran to fill that spot as our pipeline of goalie is poor outside of Desjardins who was great in the ECHL this season.

Some UFA goalies : Aubin, Flaherthy,Hedberg,Valiquette,Sandford would they be willing to go in the AHL? I think Bob will have to give them an NHL salary to go down but it's needed, if one of our goalies go down we need someone with experience to fill in.
