i still want the rangers to get a PP coach....even for just one year, it would give them an identity, which would not only help the pp but also even by giving them confidence and momentum

I think we need to look at the special teams as a WHOLE not just the power play. I think Pearn deserves another season here......I think Pearn EARNED another season here..

It's interesting that the need for power play QB is obvious to everybody but Pearn being a victim of that fact is always ignored...

its not that i dont like pearn, he did a fantastic job with the pk, however i think getting a pp coach would help all involved....montreal got one a few years ago and their pp has been towards the top of the league since....makes sense

I disagree but I'm all for anything that helps...

BUT....

I think the Rangers have a power play coach. I think the coaches had the system in place and the players didn't execute....

Pearn is an easy scapegoat IMO..

the rangers pp coach was pearn, who also coached the pk....he put a system in place im sure, and yes the players didnt execute exactly as plays very rarely ever work as they do on paper, however i think a new set of eyes and ideas may be what the team needs

The only new eyes I think are needed are of the impending power play OB we are sure to add this offseason.....

I have heard Perry Pearn referred to in many places as one of the best Assistant coaches in the league. I don't blame him that Rozy always decided to pass on the great one timer in order to give Jagr the puck, or that Girardi and Tyutin couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a slapshot from the point, much less get a show on goal. Factor in the lack of any kind of PP QB (too bad Renney seems to have beef with Mara, I usually liked what he did on the PP, and had succeeded there in the past), and i put almost no blame on Pearn.
