Ouch. Don't really want to revisit this one at this point, but at least Dawes shows the potential to be a consistent top 6 forward

Somehow, I'm thinking this topic has been discussed to its fullest in other threads.

Really? Is this really necessary? ;)

I want Jessiman to play at least one NHL shift to put all this 2003 draft stuff to rest.

that won't put anything to rest. all it will do is force people to take the time to state that the other 29 1st round picks are now star players and jessiman only played in 1 game...anyway you slice it he still sucks and this draft was an EPIC fail

I mean I get it already. SHEEEESH!!

This draft and the #1 pick will always be a stone in my shoe.

The good thing is that Dawes at #145 is looking more and more like a steal. If he continues to develop, that goes a long way towards salvaging the draft IMO.

Potter could be a solid depth D man as well.

Two potentially solid NHLers in a deal that is a crap shoot anyway???

I'll live with it.

i guess that is a positive but when u have 30 dice and one seems to be the one with a bomb around it, u select the bomb, well something is wrong. maybe sather and the scouts needs new glasses

I still say Maloney was the one who made that pick happen.

Regardless, good article, and though our guys deserve to get spanked for it, we're reminded of that draft way too much.

A draft is considered succesful if 1 player makes it to the NHL, isnt that how they look at it?

Imho, the draft was succesful because of Dawes.

I wonder if we can ask Leslie to post the 2004 draft review early, just so we can move on.

Can you imagine if we draft Joe Colborne? We'll be doing this all again in 5 years :D

Nemchinov13 06-17-2008 05:03 PM

This draft is unsuccessful because every competitor has benefited from the draft. Does it mean that we're totally screwed? Depends on the definition of "totally screwed". We're still going to be a franchise in the NHL, but this draft set back is another set back on the way to the Cup, which is the goal of every franchise. I know that we're not going to win it for another few years (it's probably going to be 25 years from 94 to the next time we win a Cup), but any of the 1st rounder picked after Jessiman would've brought us a little closer.
