Anyone else going to the draft?

I'll be going with a few buddies.

Can't freaking wait.

Well, I guess I'm not guaranteed to get seats since it's general admission..but we have the tickets to get in..just have to get there early enough to guarantee seats.

Anyone else going? It'd be nice to all sit in one section.

Gros Bill 06-09-2008 10:20 AM

Hardcore. You have to be a real hardcore fan to go watch a draft.

Seb 06-09-2008 10:20 AM

Where did you get the tix?

well, actually my dad got them for us. I'm in Chatham now (near Windsor) but I'm going home to visit and Ottawa's only an hour a way. Round 1 is on my birthday, so it should be awesome.

I guess he and a few guys from work received an email from some Sens thing and he just emailed and requested 4 tickets, and they sent it to him.

I believe you can pick up the tickets at some bars/restaurants in Ottawa.

edit: from reading the thread on the Sens board it appears round 1 is sold out.

DougHarvey 06-09-2008 10:45 AM

I got tickets by sending a SASE to the Sens and they mailed them back to me. Tickets are good for both days.

I prefer to watch it on TSN.... the draft would be really boring without McGuire & McKenzie and the highlight packages.

Agreed. I don't think that watching the draft 'live' can be that great. I'll watch it on TSN and get a lot more information on the players and the teams.

Not even with binoculars and a whisper 2000?

i'm going to tape it so I can still watch it another time.

I'm just a draft fanatic, there's no way I pass up this opportunity.

I'm going as well, and so is Cardiac Cane. He emailed them and they sent the tickets. They're free. It's basically first come, first serve, except season ticket holders get in first, then it's general admission.

I went to the draft in Toronto with some friends, it was the year we took Higgins. It is really interesting to watch because you see more happening there than what they are telling you on TSN.

Seeing managers talk to each other, see the phones ringing and seeing what GM is talking to the other GM...it's hardcore, but it is cool because we watched and would say to each other something is going to happen and then a few minutes later it's announced.

It's fun.

FASTHockey Radio show live from draft..

We'll be broadcasting live from the draft. Come by and say hello!

Also, if anyone knows Ottawa well, let me know the good restaurants and pubs! ;)

The nearest ones are in Montreal.

WeThreeKings 06-09-2008 11:51 AM

Run by the Habs table, bring a laptop and tell us what they're saying.

The 2 areas I would suggest are 1- The ByWard Market and 2- Elgin St.
Both are a little far from Kanata and the Scotia Bank Place (or is it the opposite? :sarcasm:) .

Maitz 06-09-2008 01:50 PM

The draft is when ?

Riverside Habs Fan 06-09-2008 04:24 PM

I'll be there.

Saturday for sure, hopefully Friday.

HabsoluteFate 06-09-2008 04:34 PM

I'm going but could only get tickets for Saturday since they had given away all Friday tickets....

If anyone has extra tickets i'm willing to buy someone a beer (assuming its 11.00 or less) for a single ticket

If they have wireless, unsecured internet and i can find a seat with a plug in near by, I would. haha

I'd bring my phone and post on here, but I don't/can't afford to rack up a huge bill cause of the damn net. I never use it, so that's why i don't have a plan for it/

I'm a hardcore draft fan and even in Montreal I won't go. You miss way too many things, way preferable to be in front of the computer to go and get the infos and the reports.

Yeah. When you are there I would imagine you only hear player X gets drafted by team 1. You'd miss all the juicy stuff we see on TSN. I just dont see my self having fun spending all that time waiting at the draft.
