I've always been a fan of Stillman since his days in Tampa and Carolina, as well as Malone and Vrbata. I also wouldn't mind seeing us get a center like Langkow... the one's in the bold are the guys i think we need to target the most... again this is just my view..

I would only look at those guys, they are the only offensive-force out there with star power !

Forget about Holik, I just love the guy, and I think he would bring a lot of character and experience down the middle ! It's my surprise ;)

OneOfTheHockeyGods* 06-22-2008 02:48 PM

Vrbata would be real nice...however I would have thought JM would have at least had PHX throw in his rights in the trade.

OneOfTheHockeyGods* 06-22-2008 02:48 PM

No interest in Ryder unless we get a playmaking center.

OneOfTheHockeyGods* 06-22-2008 02:49 PM

Stillman isn't a good enough skater for this team but I like him a lot.

OneOfTheHockeyGods* 06-22-2008 02:50 PM

Langkow and Ryder...

Beezer 06-22-2008 03:07 PM

I would go after these in this order:
M. Hossa
B. Rolston
D. Langkow
S. Avery
B. Morrison

Anod 06-22-2008 03:14 PM

Hossa!

Mogo 06-22-2008 04:09 PM

You just listed all players we have no chance of signing there :(

Bure1096 06-22-2008 04:15 PM

give me naslund, rolston, vrbata, or ryder.

Beezer 06-22-2008 04:17 PM

I'd like to add P. Bure to that list!:sarcasm:

We should be able to sign at least one as long as Cohen doesn't want us to stay $10 M under the cap.

NJ_CATS_FAN 06-22-2008 04:26 PM

Well, if we cant come to an agreement with Bouw, why not throw the money at a guy like Hossa. He is obviously going for the big payday, and if we cant get Bouw to stay, then why not bring in the offense we desperately need. I say may a run at Hossa.

HughJass* 06-22-2008 04:30 PM

Jason Williams - rumored to be a selfish player. Dude's offensive output speaks for itself, though.
Radim Vrbata - you guys really don't want that. I chalk up to last season as "contract year". He did his disappearing act down the stretch there for the 'Yotes, and that's his problem. If he isn't scoring goals, he's doing absolutely nothing else.

I say "hell yeah" on Stillman. He'd be a good guy to have around young forwards and he's an above average play maker. I believe he's going to be staying in Raleigh so he may have SE division teams higher on his list. The "skating" knock on him is a non-issue as he was definitely a big catalyst for the Canes up-tempo offense at times. A very under-rated player, and the Sens would very much like to keep him around.

If we can't resign Bouw, JM will go after Redden! That would mean that we wouldn't have enough left over to sign a guy like Hossa unless Cohen opens his wallet a bit and let's JM spend closer to the cap.:sarcasm:

By the way jtpanthers87, you spelled oficial wrong on the thread title.:)

JonathanHuberdoh 06-22-2008 04:54 PM

Hossa is exactly what we need. Pure offensive talent. We've needed a forward like that since Bure left.

Unfortunately, us signing anyone better than 3rd liners is just a pipe dream.

Have to agree with your sentinements here. Especially with Stillman, not sure where he gets it from, but he's a great player.

I see Nagy, Rolston, and perhaps Vrbata, Williams, Langkow, and Stillman as possiblities. With us trying to supposedly acquire Nagy at the deadline, I'd imagine jacques would try again if that were true. Though it make me shrug. He'd be very Stumpel-esque, imo.

Heimy 06-22-2008 06:20 PM

Daymond Langkow just jumps off the page for me as a perfect fit here. He's a solid 2-way centerman that's still plenty young. He's got tons of character and he never takes a shift off. I'd be surprised if Calgary doesn't find a way to hang onto him.

He's perfect, but I think Calgary has a huge interest in him. If he goes to the market I guarantee they are going to try hard to get him back. I would love him here though, along with Rolston and Hossa.

Although I like Langkow too, I would prefer Rolston. He would be a better fit for us & IMO would make Dvorak expendable because of his PK play. I remember one year he had like 10 shorthaded goals. Then we could trade Dvorak for more scoring!

RCGP 06-22-2008 06:43 PM

Langkow is all but signed already.

We need a 2nd line centre and guys like Prospal, Morrison, Demitra, Rolston, and Stillman could fill that role for various contracts.

Malone, Williams and Vrbata could be good pick ups due to their age. Malone is the only one of the 3 I actually trust to not suck though.

Avery is young, good, and a centre, but he is a jackass.

Maybe Nagy could be had for cheap?? I don't know.

Depends how much we are willing to spend and who would be willing to come here.
