Bouwmeester wants out of Florida

a person close to Jay Bouwmeester told Newsday that the defenseman wants out of Florida.

from Zippays blog.

Man oh man, if we could swing a deal for him, there would be no reason to go out and sign a Campbell or a Redden. Youre getting a #1 defenseman right when hes about to hit his prime.

I wonder what it would take to get him, but hes a player i would hope the rangers would be all over.

NYR Viper 06-25-2008 07:46 PM

sanguinetti, tyutin, hillier

boumeester

wolfgaze 06-25-2008 07:53 PM

I don't watch Florida play much... Just how good is Bouwmeester?

Dredden 06-25-2008 07:55 PM

Look what coyotes got for Olli, maybe we can get him without giving them that much.

doubt they would make the same mistake twice.
apparently they are rebuilding, so why would they want to trade their franchise player, who is only about 25?

Forechecker 06-25-2008 07:59 PM

37 points, -5 in 82 games on a horrid Florida team.

Because once a guy says that, you gotta get rid of him. Can't have your franchise guy be miserable. I think I'd give up Sangs for him. It'd be tough of Sangs who wants nothing more than to play for the Rangers, but...

is that deal fair i put up?.....i would rather hang onto the first from next year but i would throw it in if it is needed

Lawl.

Thats a joke of an offer for JBo.

More like Sangs Tyutin 1st 09 2nd 09 Nigel Dawes.

They gave up their 1st line center, who's only 29, for a deal that didn't include either a #1 or Kyle Turris.

I'd rather give up the #1 and keep Sanguinetti.

If they're truly rebuilding, they might take a boatload of draft picks plus defense prospects. Baranka, maybe? :sarcasm:

Led the entire NHL in average time on ice/game. Phenomenal skater, maybe leaves you wanting elite offensive production given his talents--he does have a pair of 40+ point campaigns, so it's not like he's terrible.

If it weren't Jacques Martin, I'd expect Bouwmeester to fetch an arm and a leg. Because the Panthers rushed Bouwmeester into the NHL, he can angle to only sign a one year deal and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

That diminishes his value somewhat, but how many teams would love to get their hands on a 25 year old, 25 minute defenseman? We'll see how it plays out. It would seem like Florida would want immediate help--ie, like how they got Ballard and Boynton for Jokinen--rather than prospects and future picks.

I have no problem putting Tyutin in the deal, since he'd be replaced by Bouwmeester...add a young forward on the roster not named Dubinsky, one of Wiikman, LeNeveau or Lafleur and a 1st round pick.

Trxjw 06-25-2008 08:18 PM

They'd probably want at least one top-six, NHL ready forward, one blue-chip prospect and a 1st round pick. Thats to start.

Like they did when they dealt Jokinen?

You can't use the Jokinen trade as a basis for anything. One trade has no bearing on what another will look like.

This is a 24 year old #1 defensemen who leads the NHL in TOI/G and manages to put up good numbers despite being on a garbage Florida squad. They aren't going to give him up for a song, even if they did get fleeced on the Jokinen deal.

And Bouwmeester said he wants out, which lowers the Panthers' leverage. And, teams believe that Martin can be had after the Jokinen deal...a #1 center who plays a PF game and scores 35 goals, with not an outrageous contract which had TWO years left.

Very, him & Staal will look great paired together.

I would give Dawes, Prucha, Toots or Girardi & a 1st.

The Olli trade was the same mistake a second time.

AJ1982 06-25-2008 08:35 PM

I'm sure Jay Bo didn't like Jokinen getting shipped out. It definitely is a signal of intent on Florida's part. I'd love to get Bouwmeester, but even if he really wants out he is still costly to trade for, probably more than what Jokinen cost. But probably worth it too.

3rd Round Pick, Sanguinetti, Tyutin, Anisimov

or

1st Round Pick, one of Sanguinetti/Anisimov, Tyutin, Prucha

For Jay Bo and probably some kind of throw in.

I know we'd all hate to part with Sangs and/or Anisimov, which is why florida would want them. Sangs is a potential top pairing Dman. Anisimov a potential top 6 forward. Tyutin helps fill the void left by Jay leaving. Prucha is a bit of a throw in on the 2nd package, but a guy who might be able to help a rebuilding team like Florida. The 3rd round pick is pretty valuable, a 1st round pick can obviously be very valuable.

Olli was traded to Phoenix for Ballard, Boynton and a 2nd round pick, which I thought was pretty cheap actually. Jay Bo costs more due to his youth and position.

I Eat Crow 06-25-2008 08:40 PM

To FLA:

Sangs, Tyutin, Prucha, 2nd in 09

To NYR:

Bouwmeester

Very fair on both sides, considering JBo wants out of Florida
