As per TSN.

Quote:

Sources tell TSN the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers have completed a trade. The Rangers will receive Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche as part of the package, with Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman among the players heading back to Columbus. Details to follow.

Ice Whole 07-02-2008 03:39 PM

Wow. Rangers are seriously trying to win the cup. Good move by the Rangers.

420ilerBuzz* 07-02-2008 03:39 PM

I think you beat me to it.

Soundwave 07-02-2008 03:40 PM

Hrm. Argh. Couldn't we just have dealt Pitkanen for Zherdev then?

We know Hitchcock has a woody for Pitkanen.

The question is - will Jagr go back?

I thought he loved NY... I guess I've heard he might head back to Europe...

God no. The last thing the Oilers need is another guy who carries the puck up the ice... they needed guys who can actually get the puck and keep it on the cycle.

Then you'd think he'd be on a plane to Russia...

He also might want to play in the best league in the world. I didn't mean to insinuate that it was all about money.

Jagr seems like a New York type of guy.

Poor Prucha, looks like he will be playing bottom six minutes again

Soundwave 07-02-2008 03:45 PM

We should offer Jagr 1 year $8 million right now and have Hemsky call him.

Maybe he bites.

alphahelix 07-02-2008 03:47 PM

why did columbus make this trade? doesnt seem to me that it really improves them

That could involve really interesting descriptive language. ;)

If Columbus does not sign a UFA forward then:

Prediction: Next year Nash plays 47 minutes per game and scores 83 of the teams 101 goals. :help:

I think this was the move to replace Jagr. They're similar players- moody, highly skilled.

The Rags still need a top-line LW, though. Not much left there.

Avery already signed in Dallas, but I guess Jagr's still out there.

Lundqvist=Vezina 07-02-2008 03:49 PM

You guys will really like Tyutin if he plays like the way he did at the beginning of this year. He played pretty bad in the playoffs, but he can be good. He has one of the best hip checks in the league.

They must think highly of Tyutin. But kinda raises the question of who Nash is going to play with now. Chimera?

Wrong board--we're not getting Tyutin. Although, it would be nice if it were true. 'Don't think I'd be trading Zherdev for him, though...
