Straka officially gone...
Per Sam's blog.

Not a surprise but now official (or at least according to The Hockey News), Martin Straka is leaving the Rangers to play next season in his native Czech Republic.

The timing of this revelation is conspicuous, because it suggests that Straka at least sniffed around the first two days of free agency to see if there were any offers. And it probably means he didn’t like what he heard—if anything— from the Rangers about his or Jaromir Jagr’s future in New York.

Good luck, Strak.

the consummate professional and hardest working player i have ever watched as far as im concerned. wish him nothing but the best of luck.

Adios, Marty.

Sorry to see him go. He was one of the keys to the post lockout resurgence. I hope this doesn't mean Jagr is gone too.

Thanks for the good memories Marty... a true team player, and a true Ranger... you will be missed.

Marty hate to see you go.

Might have been my favorite Ranger because I never saw him glide instead of take a stride.

I dont know if there are any players in the NHL that are as underrated as Marty was. This guy was always leaving everything he had on the on ice. He was a very good offensive player for us, seemed to come up with the big goals, too.

The one thing Straka did this season that shows what kind of player he was was when he jumped in front of multiple Chara bombs, even though his hand was broken on the first one.

He was big part of our success and helped get the team back to respectability post-lockout. He was one of my favorite players and his leadership will be missed.

Probably the best guy for the young kids to look to as far as hard work and determination goes. He works his butt off and I think guys like Prucha, Dubi & Cally took notice.

Martin, thanks for all your hard work and determination.
Good luck both as player and management in your home town!

I hope he enjoys being back home and will remain a part of the Rangers family.

Well, I'll miss Straka almost as much as Tyutin, but it was time to go. Best of luck to him in the Czech Republic. Maybe he'll be back w/ the Rangers organization in some capacity later on.

We'll miss ya Straka!

Bye Marty. You gave it everything every shift out there. Sad to see you go but its was time. Good luck back home.

KotsyJr 07-03-2008 12:57 PM

Gonna miss him, he was my favorite player on these Ranger teams the last few years.

nyrcallahan24 07-03-2008 01:10 PM

bye strats! Thanks for some great memories! You'll be missed

nyrtexan 07-03-2008 01:25 PM

Very few players have put more into every single shift than Marty. The guy's motor always ran at full blast. What a pro ...

The_Captain 07-03-2008 01:38 PM

wish you the best marty!
