Halak Signs with Habs

I ddin't see it posted, Team 990 just reported it on the radio, sorry no link. they said 2 year deal.

AH 07-08-2008 01:24 PM

The standard Gainey '2 year second contract'.

The only exception to that rule over 4 years has been A. Kosty. Then again, the market did not allow for that in his case.

Watch for Gorges and OB to get two year deals as well.

x-bob 07-08-2008 01:27 PM

I have always liked Halak and I beleive that he will turn out to be a great goaltender down the line.

SuperSaku 07-08-2008 01:28 PM

Didn't Ryder get 1 year?

AH 07-08-2008 01:30 PM

Ryder went to arbitration.

Habs10Habs 07-08-2008 01:31 PM

Good news, I'm curious to hear/read the $ amount.

i thought he went to arbitration and signed before the arbitration hearing?

YMCMBeaulieu 07-08-2008 01:35 PM

Anything under $1 million per year and it's a great signing.

Kachino 07-08-2008 01:36 PM

Nice to hear that Halak is re-signed...

Artyukhin* 07-08-2008 01:40 PM

great signing

2 years 9 million

:sarcasm:

Can't find the details yet, but I'm sure once late RDS figures it out, they'll become available as the day goes.

I figure he wouldn't ink unless he was sure he was in the NHL, Denis will be Hamilton's goalie this year for sure now.

Habs8517 07-08-2008 01:46 PM

good job Bob :yo:
never understood why people wanted to trade a good goalie like Halak :shakehead
we can have the best young duo of goalies in the entire NHL

Joey 07-08-2008 01:46 PM

prediction --- 850k/year + 1-way

1-way would be nice for his confidence, like...yes jaro, you do have a shot to be #1 this year

That sounds about right... A two way contract would be a slap in the face.

Wonder what Brian Burke thinks of that.

I doubt he'd sign a two-way at this point....

He wants to be a backup goalie at minimum.

dlandry77 07-08-2008 01:55 PM

Awesome, Who is left??

Gorges and O'Bryne??

Player 61 07-08-2008 01:56 PM

They're saying about 1.5 Mil for 2 years .750 & .850 not confirmed though.

Analyzer 07-08-2008 01:57 PM

Sign Gorges already!

Why signing him means he won't be traded at some point?

He won't now that's for sure. But he could later on even though he's signed...

habsprospects 07-08-2008 02:01 PM

There is no point in signing a two-way deal, he would have to clear waivers to play in AHL...

.750 + .75 = 1.5.....

So yeah the 750, 850 number would mean it would be 1.6

Both would be good deals for the habs though...

beowulf 07-08-2008 02:05 PM

Nice to see and the numbers, if true, are also nice.

Traktor* 07-08-2008 02:15 PM

Halak's agent is an idiot.
