Unexpected...

Good for him...
Good for the sens, they don't overpay him at all

GoneAway 07-31-2008 09:23 AM

Sign and trade!!!

Universe 07-31-2008 09:28 AM

Would have been nice but we can find better.

ti-vite 07-31-2008 09:30 AM

Nice signing for Ottawa, 1M$ less than Finger!

Good signing for the Sens....i thought he would have got more.

I don't think the Habs would have made any kind of run at him anyways next year...we will have our hands full just trying to retain all our RFAs and UFAs.

He wasn't going to be a UFA next summer. Not enough service time and not old enough. He'll be one in 2010, as it was the case before today.

Vermette will make a lot less than Michael Ryder. Interesting.

He'll more than likely match Ryder's salary once he becomes a UFA

Same point production as A.Kostystin this year, playing on 3rd line and almost dead last on team with PP time. Oh did I also mention he is 6th in league for face-off's, a PK specialist and he still has loads of untaped potential?

This is a great deal for a good player.

I agree. He's far from being over-rated. In fact, some would say that he's been underrated by his boss. And if you want to talk about french bias, in this case, it's pretty much the contrary.

I've read somewhere that Vermette is supposedly a faster skater than Latendresse.

Maybe, he's certainly not first line material (right now), but for 2.5+3m, it's a good contract.

No one does. For some reason we are not allowed to discuss signings on this board without other teams' memebers getting upset.

I agree but Ottawa does have Heatley-Spezza-Alfredsson for that. ;)

Vermette is a good top 6 forward however and that is a great contract.
